Jun 22, 2014Benie posted a message on EULA Revisited: an Updated Q&A From MojangOk, I am extremely confused here. Forgive me for not being in the loop, as I haven't played Minecraft or read the news about it for months.Posted in: News
So, I really don't see how any of this is so bad. From what I'm reading, Mojang is giving server owners the option of making people pay to join their servers. That seems fine to me. Yet people say they're going to be "forced" to pay to join? If it's optional, then I don't see the problem here.
But one thing I don't get, I own a local private Bukkit server that I host on my computer. They say it will "affect everyone". I don't see how it's going to affect me, when I'm the only one that joins and plays on it.
The only thing that could affect me, I used to be on a server that I paid real money to get Supporter benefits (perks and helps server costs). I might rejoin it in the future. -

All I know is no one is asking how to install mods with the new system, and people are saying some 1.2.4 mods work in 1.2.5, because "class files haven't been changed". Which leads me to believe more accessing the .jar.
I haven't updated yet (still at 1.2.3). So can someone inform me? -

Thanks very much for those prices, _Xise. Though with that much power, wouldn't I need a better PSU to boot? Currently I have a 650W PSU (from Coolermaster).
And the whole $1,000 thing, I was being overdramatic there, I'll admit. I'm just glad I don't have to also replace my GPU.

Someone suggested to get the 8320 as being my best option. Yet you say it would be a waste of money.
So I'm literally stuck with what I got (unless I'm willing to spend $1,000 or more on upgrades). That's unfortunate.

Been watching several Youtubers doing modded Minecraft let's plays (mainly the latest Direwolf20 pack) and noticing how smooth their FPS is. Yet mine is a jerky mess. I get severe turning lag. And I point the bottleneck on my CPU (as I constantly see it at 100% usage when it happens).
The thing is, I don't know "the standard" these Youtubers typically use to play (let alone record and play) modded Minecraft. I don't know if they play locally or have their own servers and use them to cut down on hardware usage.
But I'm going to assume some of them actually play locally. So... what would be the CPU of choice for them (that they would recommend to others)? Is it the Intel Core i5 or the i7, or something else? I did some research of seeing if there's any CPUs that are better than what I have (using PC Part Picker) and it shows my CPU being the best (which cannot be right).
My specs are below. Any help in pointing me in the right direction for a CPU (and hopes I don't also have to replace my Motherboard to make it fit) would be very much welcome. I need expert advice to finally run modded Minecraft at a smooth framerate with no turning lag.
OS: Windows 7 64-bit SP1
CPU: AMD FX-4350
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 (MS-7693)
RAM: 16GB DDR3
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti
Total memory allocated to Minecraft: 4GB (heard anything higher is a waste of resources)

Ohh awesome. Thank you so much for those links. It took awhile, then I remembered I used something like this. Did exactly what I needed to do.

Well pick-blocking just gives me the block I'm looking at, but the Creative Inventory does have all the bits. Thanks very much.
Also, this mod. This.... this should not be a mod. This should be part of Vanilla! You don't know how long I've wanted to slice a block in half to make it fit!!
This is a God of all mods. I even made a custom staircase from it. You sir, I salute.

Greetings.
I'm using this mod in the 1.10.2 version of the Direwolf20 pack, and using it in a test world (in building a proper base). When using the chisel from the mod (using the Diamond one), I'm not getting any bits when in Creative mode. Yet when I switch to Survival, I am. So how is this going to work?
I played around with these Creative things from the mod, but it's still not giving me any bits (or anything like it would as if I was in Survival). I even checked my test world with NBTExplorer to make sure I had Cheats on and I was fully in Creative.

So I have my main Survival world, and a Test world for mod and build testing. I have to use a LAN game in my Test world in order to turn on cheats and be in Creative. And this is getting frustrating.
I remember a time when one was able to edit some sort of file to be able to change the gamemode and stuff outside of the game, yet I don't see that option in 1.10.2.
I need it. Please tell me how I can do this. Asked Google, but it doesn't help me.

I have a bug report for both ExtraUtils2 and JourneyMap.
When flying with the Angel Ring and the player dies, JourneyMap doesn't create a Deathpoint. Almost sure it worked back in 1.7.10. Thankfully I was able to remember where my gravestone was (was floating in the air of where I died) without too much trouble.
Keep this in mind if you're flying around in the Nether, with no fire protection.
Isn't that a bit cheaty? IMO, you should be using something like RFTools for long range/dimensional teleporting. It's more fair and balanced.

I'm pulling my hair out of watching my computer act like it's being overloaded and has no memory for anything (mainly for playing Modded Minecraft/FTB).
Now I'm being told the beauty of an SSD. I have a 15+ year old 160GB HDD as my C (that still runs), and 8GB of DDR3 RAM (I have half of it partitioned for FTB). My computer takes up to 10 minutes to boot everything after the desktop pops up.
And playing FTB, this is where things get bogged down. I like having one instance of Firefox running in my second monitor to look up specific Youtube videos (either to pass the time or to help me plan something). This is actually OK. But overtime my computer gets sluggish, freezing the game up for no reason at times (had this happen during combat as well, and died from it).
When I go to the Nether, my computer freezes Minecraft for up to 10 minutes. Though I never had it crash on me. I once thought the reason was it was reloading everything (since there's a lot of mods), yet I was watching a guy on the same modpack I am, go into the Nether in 1/4 the time it would had taken me. Aka, he got in and mined Nether Quartz, to where I would still be sitting at a frozen loading screen.
This made me wonder if getting an SSD and more RAM would help (if any).
So... would this make any difference on how my computer handles FTB? I have heard that more RAM won't make Java run better; for it's my CPU. Yet there's no upgrades that would not require me to also replace my motherboard and all of that other stuff (all for one problem game).
Java's the only real problem. All of my other (more optimized) games run fine. This isn't an FPS issue, it's a ridiculously long loading/freezing issue.
I just want to know if I should go about doing this, or just save my money. I know the SSD would help with making my computer boot faster, but what I really care about is being able to play FTB as smooth as possible (without it acting like all of my memory is going to Java and leaving nothing left).
Specs;
OS: Windows 7 x64
CPU: AMD FX 4350
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750Ti
RAM: (mentioned in OP)
P.S. I do use a 32x Resource Pack. Would this have anything to do with it?

Right. I'm back, and I'm wondering about flight. It seems to be .. end tier to where it's pointless to get them.
There's only two mods that I know that one can fly;
ExtraUtils2 (the Angel Ring)
Actually Additions (Wings of The Bats)
The first one requires the player to find a Nether Fortress, kill Wither Skeletons for a 15% chance of getting a Drop of Evil, then crafting a Cursed Lasso, then beating up a Ghast and try to lasso the thing.
And the second one, requires to kill the Wither and the Ender Dragon.
I'm wondering if there's any (more sane) ways of being able to fly around (and hunt Endermen so I can get conduits going for EnderIO). I'm pretty sure there was another ring that you can fly, but it's probably in Thaumcraft which isn't in the pack (yet).
I've been so used to Morth back in 1.7.10. It helped jumpstart me on the tech tree. Now it feels I'm being stalled due to inadequate power, or not able to progress further because of a lack of Ender Pearls (can't even get to the End to properly harvest them). Very frustrating.
And as I said, power is a problem. I have managed to boost my Coal intake, but my machines require more than I have. Want to switch to lava (to use the pump from Ranged Pumps), but the only (I think) RF-producing generator is the Thermoelectric Generator from Immersive Engineering. But this requires Steel; something I have no idea how to find or even produce (that doesn't require other mods).
Can't use Solar Power from EnderIO either, as it requires ..Ender Pearls.

I'm running the latest Direwolf20 pack in Survival SP, but I'm having.. well, personal "how the hell do I design my base to make all of these things fit?!" issues. I wonder if it's possible to make a mirrored version in Creative, in order to properly plan out.
Is this possible? I feel it should be, but I don't know how (the reason why I'm asking), and Google is once again.. no help. Could've sworn one time it was as simple as making a copy of the save (out of the game), edit a file to toggle the gamemode, and go with that. And I can't do it through JEI for some strange reason (there's no option to set the gamemode there).
Also didn't know if to put this here or in the Survival Mode forum, but I felt this was more modded-related.

Hmm. Never tried FTBUtils. Sounds promising. I'll play with it in a test world or something.
And after extensive testing (far away from my base, and in the Nether), it works! Even works with liquids! Claim chunks with left click (calls them '<Player>'s Team' for some reason), and Shift+Left click to Chunkload them. Has a set number of 64. Heard this can be adjusted in a config. Works across dimensions.
Thanks so much. That calms most of my concerns with this pack as it stands now. Though the 'TeamsGUI' feature loads forever. I assume it only works on servers.

Once again, thanks for the very helpful and informative response.
I've heard of the Dimensional Transceiver, but never used it. Definitely something to check out when it comes to pumping lava out of the Nether.
The second thing sounds crude, but it sounds like it would work. Just need to think of a system that would support it all.
And the 3rd thing, I mainly used the Sawmill to double wood. I once had my base powered on Charcoal with a remote tree farm (before moving to Big Reactors). Having no Sawmill isn't going to hurt, though.
Everything's sounding good so far. The only other concern is Chunk Loading. ExraUtils2 has that Ward, but I don't know if this 'Grid Power' system has to be made on every dimension I need the Ward to work (tried looking, yet no luck). I also hear rumors that it doesn't ward the chunks it claims (1 chunk instead of 3x3).
There's also a Chunk Loader from IC2, but I don't know much about it (like its range and what it requires to power it).
..What happened to ChickenChunks? Was it also not updated?

Thanks for your response, Kziorth. I am aware of the SAG Mill (used it back in 1.7.10). I'm also aware it has two modes (that couldn't be toggled via a Redstone signal), which required me to have two of them (one for a Furnace and the other to make the special ingots of the mod).
However, if I must do that again, then I will.
But also, I didn't realize how dependent I was on Thermal Expansion until I loaded up my old world. No more Tesseracts. No known replacement for the Ingenious Extruder. No more Sawmill.
Are there any mods at this time that would replace these? I know dire said there would be more mods coming to the pack.

So I don't normally post in here, but I feel I must. I feel this 1.10.2 pack came too early. Basing this post from the previous 1.7.10 pack.
I see hardly any generators for basic machines (mainly for EnderIO).
When trying to look up a block I've never heard of (to learn more about it), videos for it are outdated (and/or it doesn't exist in the FTB Wiki).
How am I going to automate ores without Thermal Expansion (as it worked with EnderIO)?
Will Forestry make up for automated farms (with Minefactory Reloaded not updated)?
Without Thermal Expansion, is there any alternate Cobblestone/Stone/Obsidian maker?
I honestly don't know where to continue once I have the basic ores dug up. If anyone could give some pointers of what machines you guys start with (I want to use EnderIO, but it doesn't have the Pulverizer from Thermal Expansion, and the Macerator from IC2 won't work since it uses AU instead of RF), it would help greatly.
