    IGN: Bearodactyl

How long have you played MC: Since nearly the beginning, for example, I remember the tree update.
Have you ever been banned: Well, banned many times back when servers were only creative and the only incentive for buying minecraft was that you could have your own skin. But everyone got banned back then for all kinds of stuff: griefing, namecalling, people disliking your screen name, people thinking what you built was stupid, no reason whatsoever and so on. I have not played on a server since survival came out and don't plan on breaking any rules.

What have you done in other servers? (Staff, Building, etc.): I used to run classic servers in the 256x256 era, and I invented the dam-breaking server(waterproof your creations before the dam breaks) and used to run a pretty awesome Minas Tirith server that probably had the largest and most complex community built replica of Minas Tirith(And an eeeevil spawn maze that kept the griefers out(my server was more famous for the maze than the gigantic minas tirith at the end)). This server would be my first experience in a mutliplayer survival server that wasn't me wandering around overwhelmed and bored by miles of server-introduction and "Voteforus!" signs, in the end unable to find a place where I can play the game.

Probably a needlessly long application but I like to talk.

How did you find out about the server?: Snooping around the Minecraft Survival server forums.

Have you played at all on the server already? (Will not decide final outcome): It's not open yet unless I'm mistaken.

What is rule number 4?: No advertising.

What are some past servers you have played on?: I haven't played on a multiplayer server since the original creative servers back when the only thing you got from purchasing the game was the ability to have a skin. So feel good that this one's the first I felt like being un-whitelisted on even though it isn't open yet.

posted a message on City Biome
Seems like an idea that would naturally come but I've done a forum search and scanned the "already suggested" thread and found nothing similar.

Basically, I think large, somewhat rare, randomized cities that you can't see the end of on the in-game horizon would be pretty awesome, about the size of a typical biome. Here's a slew of ideas for such a biome, reasons why I think it would be such a grand addition.

-Walls and turrets spawning surrounding the main part of the city, with main roads going through parts of the wall
-Various NPC businesses lining main roads, NPC residences elsewhere
-A large somewhat randomized castle in the center of town, perhaps with courtyards or a moat or other castle-ish things
-large crop fields surrounding the walls of the city with small farming houses dotting the countryside, with docile mobs in fences and wheat and pumpkin fields and such.
-Loads of NPCs, perhaps such as:
---Farmers, somewhat aggressive towards fully grown wheat and planting seeds on tilled soil
---Guards, wandering walls, roads and castles and become aggressive if the player attacks a city resident, and are aggressive to enemy mobs
---Varied merchants, such as armorsmiths, butchers, pawners, etc.
---Beggars, scrambling for gold and food if dropped
---Hunters, in surrounding woodlands, rampantly shooting arrows at mobs
---Royalty, serenely in the courts of the castle
---Fishermen, casting lines into local rivers and ponds
---Monks, tending to buildings of religious study and silently preaching to other NPCs
-Randomized flags or emblems unique to each city that spawns
-Inhabited mineshafts, like the abandoned ones found but maintained, well-lit and full of miners
-Chests in homes, businesses and castles, all with different kinds of stuff in them
-Some vacant houses, so the player can take up residence in a city if they so choose

A city like this would expand lots of Role-playing options to a player if they were interested, and in general would just be a pleasantly overwhelming thing to come across. It could be expanded into interesting events to run into as well surrounding a city, such as traveling armies and sieges happening every so often, bandit encampments in the hills nearby, small caravans coming and going on the roads intersecting the city, perhaps things as imaginative as Nether-cults building portals and attempting to conjure up nether mobs. It would create a large new aspect of the game to explore and manipulate, it almost depresses me that it doesn't already exist.

Well I have exams in a couple of weeks so I've only been on the computer twice this week, but yes, it will be done around the time minecraft is officially done! (My exams are done by then and it will be 12 weeks of holidays for me.... Plenty of time! :biggrin.gif:)

Yeah, thanks for making this awesome pack. I'll post some pictures of my Castle here soon, it's about halfway done I think (which is funny because the castle and walls are finished, on to the town ;_:wink.gif:.

True, but not everyone's made of piles of money, and some people prefer to tweak old towers from '05 until they run as well as possible without really updating them at all physically. I run minecraft pretty well from doing a large series of little things like this.

However, what he's suggesting won't change much, he has a ****ed idea of windows update. I have it turned off anyway for other reasons. It can't really *not* help though, so no sense in bashing.

Run the Intel driver update utility to update graphics drivers: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect

I did this earlier today, it updated a networking thing but that was it, it said my graphics card was current and still says it is. Here's what it said in that link just now, even.

    Product Detected IntelĀ® G33/G31
    Current Driver Installed 8.15.10.1749
    Your driver is current.

same driver as what was in my specs up there. Not sure what to try now :I

    Post a dxdiag.
    1) Run 'dxdiag' (Windows + R), Click 'Save All Information'
    2) Open dxdiag.txt, copy/paste up to Sound Devices in code snippet tags.

hmm, guess that would be clever now wouldn't it.

So, I recently re-OSed my computer, as it was getting a little slow and cluttered. I usually do this about 3-4 times a year, and it's kept my 2005 tower pretty spiffy. What I'm confused about, is that this time, but no other time in the past, it is giving me a bad video card driver error. This has never happened to me before after re-OSing the computer.

I've ran it in compatibility mode for windows XP. I've downloaded that non-english-as-a-first-language guy's minecraft.exe and the jar file and tinkered with that the best I could to no avail. Not sure what's going on.

It's just a standard windows 7, registered 100%, ran all of the windows updates, have the latest version of Java, have a good graphics card, have the latest minecraft download, so, what's going on? need help :C my creativity is choked
