    posted a message on Getting frustrated... Buggy game!
    Quote from Reinette34»

    Decided to post a photo to hopefully make it clear what's happening.

    If I try to select the block with the red cross (for example,) the game is selecting the one where the orange arrow is pointing. Happens on all surfaces. It's like the view is off kilter or something.

    Just for clarity:

    Beta version of the game was working fine apart from crashing when closed. (known bug)

    Removed myself from the beta program and had to uninstall the game

    New version of the game was bugged as above

    Uninstalled, restarted my tablet and installed it again

    Game still bugged so played with settings, deleted a few things on my tablet and checked Android is up to date.

    Game was still bugged and is currently unplayable.

    I've just seen there's an update on the store. I'm going to give that a try.

    It looks to me like "split controls" somehow got enabled in the settings, have you tried disabling it? To do that, go to the controls section of the settings menu and press "Touch". In that area there should be an option called "split controls" that you press to disable. Hopefully this helps! Here's a screenshot of it:

    Quote from Maxaxik»

    You would get an error, because that's not /execute's syntax.
    The fishing rod bobbers got some of their tags removed in 1.11. There's still the OnGround tag though, which serves the same purpose in this case.

    /testfor @e[name=unknown] {OnGround:1b}

    I just tested this and it worked, thank you!

    Yeah, you can use the setblock command for that. It would look something like this:

    /setblock <x> <y> <z> air 0 destroy

    The "0" is the data value for the air block, and the destroy makes it act as though the block is being destroyed instead of just replaced (which is why it drops the items).

    posted a message on inGround Tag not Working

    Hi,

    I've been trying to detect a fishing rod unknown entity that's in the ground using the command

    /testfor @e[name=unknown] {inGround:1b}

    but for some reason it just outputs "unknown did not match the required data structure" when the entity is either in the air or on the ground. I remember it working in an earlier version of Minecraft, so I was wondering if it was removed. I haven't been able to find anything about this online, does anyone else have any idea what's happening?

    Update: Sorry for posting to this after it's been dead for a while, but I found a fix in case anyone else was having the same problem. I had a resource pack on that had a custom language for Minecraft. Apparently there is a bug where if you have a custom language running, then you can't connect to any servers, including realms.

    posted a message on Block JSON Model Help (Ambient Occlusion)

    Hello,

    I'm trying to create a model for a block that disables ambient occlusion and the "shade" tag so that the block has no shading on it. (If possible, I'd also like to have all sides look like they have a light level of 15, but I have no idea how to do that.) I've got the shade tag working, but nothing seems to happen when I set the ambientocclusion tag to false. I looked in the resource pack for the Beyond Perception puzzle map, but the ambient occlusion tag didn't seem to be working there either. Does anyone have any idea how to do this? Here is my red_wool.json file:

    {

    "ambientocclusion":false,
    "parent": "block/cube_all",
    "textures": {
    "all": "blocks/wool_colored_red"
    },
    "elements": [
    { "from": [ 0, 0, 0 ],
    "to": [ 16, 16, 16 ],
    "shade": false,
    "faces": {
    "down": { "texture": "#down", "cullface": "down" },
    "up": { "texture": "#up", "cullface": "up" },
    "north": { "texture": "#north", "cullface": "north" },
    "south": { "texture": "#south", "cullface": "south" },
    "west": { "texture": "#west", "cullface": "west" },
    "east": { "texture": "#east", "cullface": "east" }
    }
    }
    ]
    }

    posted a message on Where do people get custom sound effects for maps?

    Wow, I didn't know that you could add custom sounds like that! (Meanwhile, I've just been replacing all the note block sounds with the things I need, lol.) It's good to know that creative commons sounds and music can be used in maps. I don't know all that much about the specifics of copyright, so I wasn't sure about that. Thanks for the info and video!

    posted a message on Where do people get custom sound effects for maps?

    Hi everyone,

    I'm making an adventure map, and I realized how much better it could be if I added custom sounds to enhance the experience rather than just the default Minecraft sounds. I've played some maps before that included custom sound effects or voices in the map, so I'm wondering where the map creators got these from. I would assume that the voices used in maps are from voice actors for the specific maps, so I'm not wondering about those as much. My problem is that I'm not sure where to go to get non-copyrighted sound effects for use in Minecraft maps that are free to download and use.

    tl;dr: Where can I get non-copyrighted sounds for use in a Minecraft map? (Or is there a way to make them instead?)

    Thanks!

    posted a message on [1.9] Mob Rotation

    That's strange, I thought I already posted a reply... Anyways,

    I've done some testing, and the command does actually work, but it seems to have a bug. It works as expected, except for when the mob notices the player (i.e. comes into the mob's follow range, changes to survival mode). When that happens, the mob will look at the player (including upwards or downwards) until the player moves, then the command will start working again. I'm assuming that's just some sort of bug.

    Norton's Antivirus program and firewall are known to interfere with Minecraft's login and server-joining process. Currently the only way to fix it is to uninstall it. We recommend Avast! AntiVirus as an alternative

    That's strange. I've tried disabling everything on Norton (that I could find) and running Minecraft, but the same thing is happening. Does this mean that it might be something other than Norton, or would it still be Norton?

    posted a message on Can't Connect to Any Servers or Minecraft Relams

    Hello,

    So I'm having trouble connecting to Minecraft realms or any other servers for some reason. It's only happening on the computer that I'm using for Minecraft 1.8.8, 1.8.9, and possibly some other older versions. It started happening a few days ago, and I can't think of anything that would have caused it. I don't think it has anything to do with the Minecraft account that I'm using, because I've tried another one which works on another computer. When I go on a server or realms, it seems to load for a moment, but then I get disconnected. I get different error messages when it happens, a few of them are:

    Internal Exception: Java.io.IOException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remove host

    [Proxy] Lost connection to server.

    It also occasionally only says "Disconnected" for realms. I've tried the steps in as well as restarting the computer and the internet, but so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. Does anyone know what may be wrong and how to fix it?

    Thanks

    posted a message on [1.9] Mob Rotation

    Hello,

    I'm wondering how to prevent mobs (specifically skeletons) from rotating their heads up or down. I'm going to remodel a block and put it on a skeleton's head, then make the skeleton invisible to make what looks like a new/different mob. I need to know how to stop a skeleton from looking up and down because that would cause the block model to be awkwardly lifted off the ground.

    I don't think the rotation tag would work, because that would limit it from looking left and right. I've also tried the command:

    /tp @e[type=Skeleton] ~ ~ ~ ~ 0

    , although that didn't seem to work either.

    Thanks

    posted a message on Educationnal, fun and accessible map about Alexander the Great conquest history

    I don't know tons about making a server, but I do know a few things from playing on them...

    - No, it isn't possible to make a server that is compatible with both desktop Minecraft and pocket edition. Technically, they are both different games written in different programming languages.

    - I'm not sure if your second question about the solo campaign thing is possible.

    - It is possible to put mods on a server, but the user would have to have the mod downloaded as well. Although, there is something called a plugin. A plugin is sort of like a mod for servers, where only the server needs to have it. A user can play on the server without having the plugin downloaded themselves. Here's a webpage I found that has a list of server plugins on it:
