Hello, I'm a long term Minecraft player who has played in a few servers already but was looking for an NA based one. I saw your server in the top list and watched a few videos as well as looked through your rules and plugins. Very interested in joining you guys and checking stuff out! :smile.gif:

I think Notch made a blog post about this one sometime back. Some of the wording feels a bit off but it's an awesome trailer regardless. :smile.gif:

    Damn, crazy stuff there man.

Could you grab a cartographer and take a snapshot of how the map itself looks? I'm interested in seeing just how stretched out it must be for you to build something like this.

Well done, it was a nice watch. :smile.gif:

posted a message on More than Likely, No Update This Week...
It's unfortunate that I joined Minecraft JUST as all those frequent updates were dying out. I had just discovered his free version a few days earlier and was really interested in this retail "Alpha" he was working on. I remember browsing the forums, youtube, and his blog to see just how the game was doing. Everything looked great. I saw all these Secret Friday and blog updates and I just jumped on-board. I knew it was still in Alpha but I knew that with the progress Notch was making, and his dedication to his game, it'd turn out amazing (as if it wasn't already a ton of fun). Then...two updates later...it all stopped; just my luck.

And to all those who are saying "You paid for an Alpha. Notch doesn't owe you anything. Enjoy what you get."
********. We paid for a game which is currently going through rapid development in it's "Alpha Testing" stage. What we did by buying it was, in a sense, a pre-order. We didn't "pay" for an Alpha (why would anyone buy an unfinished game?) we paid for the promise of a complete game. We show our support for Notch and his game by buying it before it's anywhere near completion.

I do get that he's going through some rougher times what with dealing with this starting up company and finding an office but he should be putting a little more effort to stay in touch with his community as well. This game's popularity is growing extremely fast and a big part of it is from word of mouth (hell, I have three friends who bought it after I showed them the game and how quickly it was progressing). If that word of mouth goes sour, it will all blow up on his face.

Indie developers are unique from the big time devs in that they're always close to their community. They have to be if they want any sort of playerbase and that's why I love indie games. The devs get involved with their community and in turn, the community helps them stay in the game. They support eachother.

That's not what I'm seeing here though. He's drifting away from his community and a large portion of it is getting fed up with all of this. If he doesn't do anything soon, he will end up losing a large amount of his playerbase. There are a lot of new great looking minecraft-like games being worked on ever since this game picked up in popularity and they're all aiming for a piece of the blocky pie. I've no doubt they will end up taking a portion of this game's playerbase, how much that is will depend on how quickly Notch realizes this if at all.

This is so awesome. If I wasn't on the West Coast I'd probably go as well.

Someone make sure to bring a camera! A group picture with everyone who showed up from the community would be awesome.

posted a message on What's the probability of Winter Mode occurring?
I had it come up twice in a row back when I first started playing. I've generated around 5 new maps since then and I haven't had any luck getting it again.
