posted a message on [16x][1.8] ~Dandelion~ (Biomes o Plenty support) UPDATED 5/23
Quote from Steelfeathers»

Eh, Vertical Slabs and Crystal Caves were just warm-ups. Getting my feet wet, so to speak.

I'm currently elbow-deep in creating a mod to bring many of the elements of Skyrim to MC - new ores/materials, new weapons and armor (including new weapon types), randomly spawning nordic and dwemer dungeons, towns populated with the races of Skyrim (with interesting new trades), MAGIC, possibly new potion and enchantment crafting...and, of course, dragons.

I'm calling it Tales of Skyrim. Here are some preview pics, if anyone is interested:

Example of a nordic dungeon:

Nordic dungeon boss room:

As for Dandelion, I tend to work on it in big chunks when I feel like doing an update. I go on texturing-sprees, so to spreak. I'll certainly post about it when I have another one. :)

Is there any chance of you doing Skyrim styled textures like the stuff you did for Riverwood (I know this would be a huge amount of work), or are you planning on keeping the default texture style for this project? It looks exciting either way.

I'm making a point to fix a lot of old problems and get a lot of the blocks to match better so that it's easier to choose colors to build with. To this end there are a LOT of blocks that are getting changed in the 1.11 update. I've felt I needed to do this for a long time, and I figured that I should see to it before I added sixteen colors of Shulker Box AND sixteen different Llama blankets to the pack to compound the problem further.
So in addition to changing the hue of a lot of the wool and hardened clay blocks, I'm also taking this time to address a few blocks that were in desperate need of revision. For example, the horrible Lapis Block texture I used to have. Right now, I've got three NEW versions I think are pretty good. Check them out, and please let me know which one you prefer:

Feedback is appreciated... and required since I really need to know which of these people like better. :D
Thank you all in advance. ^_^

I would say 3, since it has the most of that deep blue (as Lapis should be) in it.

Season's Greetings! :D Instead of doing what I'm supposed to be doing and updating this pack to 1.11 like a good little resource pack artist, I've instead been working on getting the Christmas Add-on Pack up to 1.10. So far I haven't made much progress, but I'm made a Christmas-y crafting table! Take a look!
Let me know what you think as feedback is always appreciated. Also, tell me what you'd like me to add some Christmas cheer to next! :D

This looks kind of messy to me. The wreaths, candy canes, and gold all together seem like too much detail for one 16x block, unless you were going for a kind of overdone (way too many decorations) aesthetic, in which case it looks great.

Continuing my work on the Christmas add-on pack. I'll start publishing these updates when I know someone actually cares enough to download it. :P
Self-depricating humor out of the way, today I made the potions into Hot Cocoa:

From left to right, these are normal, splash, and lingering potions. The mug changes color instead of the liquid because I think it looks cooler. ;)
Let me know what you think. Feedback is always appreciated. :D

These are great. I want them in-game right now.

Excellent! Thank you. :)

Anyone else want to throw their hat into the ring? I'd like to have options if possible.

Or are you all just waiting to see if I fall on my face with this? It's OK. I understand if you are. ;)

I would happily offer mine up for review. You probably won't want to review it though, since it's on indefinite hiatus, and I'll probably be unavailable for the next two weeks.

Interesting. To me the netherrack looks like the less noisy block in comparison to the magma (bottom-right). Even the quartz ore (top-left) seems more noisy to me, but whatever. Also, none of the reds are highly saturated in this pack. The emphasis is on green, so all of the reds and purples are pretty muted.

This is one of those instances where I'm worried that what I'm seeing is WAY different from what everyone else is seeing. :(

Sorry, wrong word. I meant contrast, not saturation.

It took me WAAAaaaaaaaaaayyy too long to get around to this:

Let me know what you think. Feedback is greatly appreciated, and ultimately necessary since I need motivation to keep this going. I know it has fans, but you all need to be a little more vocal if you want me to keep working on this. It makes next to no money, so I need feedback to keep me going. ;)

I like the magma(?) and the nether wart block, but the mix of noise and high saturation on the netherack make for a serious eye-burn effect.

I love what I've seen of this so far. My only gripe is that the dirt appears to have a bit of a tiling error from the darker vertical lines near the center of the block.

I think Ringoster used to have an add-on pack that removed this, but I don't see it on the website anymore.

Edit: It turns out it's still up on the old website: http://tritonsite.weebly.com/visibility-lightmap.html It requires MCPatcher, but it might also work with Optifine.

This is all I have. I probably won't finish this, because it's not particularly good. I am very rusty, and it shows.

Has anyone done any alternate textures for sand? I think my sand texture would really benefit from a bit of variety but I can't think of anything obvious to do with it... I'd love to get some inspiration.

I've seen a lot of people do small items partially buried in the sand, such as fossils, rocks, or animal bones.

Welcome to the Dead Lands
This entry isn't finished, but I wanted to post progress if for no other reason than to get some feedback and motivate myself to actually finish this silly thing! :P Thus far I've completed ten block textures (dirt, grass, tall grass, dandelion, rose bush, oak log, oak leaves, birch log, and birch leaves) and zero mob textures. Hopefully I can get five more blocks and three mobs finished before Friday.

Because I'm doing this in the same general style as "Sanity" I think this is eventually going to morph into a Halloween add-on pack for that pack. The way I'm headed, though, It'll almost be a complete retooling of the regular version. :P Don't worry, though. Absolutely nothing in this contest entry is taken from my existing work. It's 100% original made for this contest. :D

Feedback is appreciated, though looking at the unsettling screenshot and telling me I need psychiatric help is not really useful in improving my art. ;)
You need psychiatric help. ;P In all seriousness, though, I like it. I'm not too sure about the green in the grass, although it is growing on me.
