I know what you can make: a new map.
Nothing can compare to those first few hours of exploration in a new land, without any manner of base to make you want to stay tethered to a specific area. Who knows, you might even end up with some epic land formations that provide for a nice house location for when you do settle down.

You're new to the Internet, aintcha?

Actually on topic, as I've already suggested in another topic, every time you click on the "New Topic" button, it should automatically open up tabs with the wiki's dungeon, slime, and crafting pages until you have (maybe?) 50 posts. It should (for the love of GOD, hopefully) get rid of all the:
"OMFG I JUST FOUND SMOE WIERD CAGE THINGY IN MY MINE AND IT HAS A BURNING SPIDER IN IT!!1! HERES A PIC:

[Insert zomg-by-wtf-sized .bmp here that shows Internet Explorer with about 689573.141592 toolbars and crude MSPaint arrow pointing to the already obvious mob spawner here]

I THINK IM THE FIRTS ONE TO FIND THIS WHAT COULD IT BE?!q?!?"
    Also, bump for justice. :3

EDIT: I think OP should also add tiny slimes spawning in Peaceful to his post. There's too many pussies confused people up in here thinking that a foot-high ball of goo is going to murder them in their sleep. I personally think they're adorable and deserve to be kept as pets. :biggrin.gif:

    Have fun with that <3

Why would i post stuff like this on my twitter? Nobody cares about MC there.

It's not about whether or not this should be on Twitter, it's about how threads like this have absolutely nothing to discuss whatsoever (on a FORUM, where DISCUSSIONS are had :/) and are nothing more than pointless attention grabs to make their posters feel like random people on the Internet give a damn about the random, boring crap they're doing at the moment. Just like 90% of all tweets.
And yes, I am quite aware of the irony that I did just give enough of a damn to post on this. I just want these pointless topics to STOP.

So I did some screwing around with the dungeon and overworld maps in GIMP, and I have this to say: unless you make the dungeons at different depths underground, there's gonna be a hell of a lot of overlapping.
Best of luck to ya, you'll need it. :iapprove:

posted a message on Omageee I found my first slime
I found my first (living) slime today. He was chilling on a bed of obsidian that I made a while ago so that I could cross the lava and get some ores. He was just a little bugger, so I let him follow me around, trying to get him into my underground base. Then I noticed that the squishing suddenly stopped and turned around to find a slime ball on the ground. Poor Eric (That was his name, btw. Wait, can slimes even BE male? Whatever...) died from fall damage...
By the way, I specified "living" earlier because I've seen random slime balls just laying there while exploring my mine. It gave me hope of finding one knowing that at least two had spawned before. :biggrin.gif:

The most effective way to Pirate something is to ask the right questions and keep the haters at Bay. Or just wait 12 hours for the servers to get back up.

I see what you did there.
But pirating indie games? Seriously? Just have patience, OP. You will get your chance... eventually... when Notch resets the server...
    EVENTUALLY...

Does anyone have any ideas for what type/style of buildings I can put at the bottom? Maybe post some pictures of your own buildings. Most of mine are bland and just cobbly. Im wanting to put massive amounts of effort into The Pits buildings.

Since you're digging all the way down to the bedrock, I would suggest finding the biggest hole in the bottom of the map and building a temple to the almighty void around it. Make it entirely of gold blocks (because you're sure to find tons of the stuff, and it's fairly useless, anyway) and light it with lava flows that run inside glass arches from the middle of the ceiling to the floor. Something vaguely like this:
[] :Lava: :Lava: :Lava: :Lava: :Lava: []
:Lava: :Lava: :Glass: :Glass: :Glass: :Lava: :Lava:
:Lava: :Glass: :Glass: [] :Glass: :Glass: :Lava:
    :Lava: :Glass: [] [] [] :Glass: :Lava:
    :Lava: :Glass: [] [] [] :Glass: :Lava:
    That would be superhappyawesomeepicgoodtimes. :iapprove:

posted a message on Back to respawn
Even though the problem seems to already have been solved, I would still like to present this possible solution that doesn't involve external programs: Make a chest, dump your inventory save for some torches and a bunch of dirt, and make a giant tower of dirt with torches on the sides every few levels. When your tower hits the sky and/or you run out of torches, jump off the top to suicide. Mark your spawn with some other easily identifiable landmark, and try to find your way back to your stuff. Leave a trail of some sort, like a one-block-wide ditch or a sand block every now and then.

For some reason, my first thought on reading the title was "Dude, the WHOLE GAME is a cube-like formation."
    Sarcastically, of course...
Then I saw the picture, and I thought, "OK, that's actually kinda cool..." It could be a generation glitch, or it could just be a leftover chunk from a previous save in that slot. Either way, once you're done digging out all that sand, you'll have a nice floating house with minimal effort. :biggrin.gif:

Assuming you're using stone tools, this is going to consume at least 15,385 of them. If you go with diamond, you'll only need.. 977.
This looks like a job for.. INVEDIT!! (Unless you're insane. I mean, if you are insane, more power to ya. And this is gonna look so friggin' epic when it's done. But still. Damn.)

I suppose that with the ridiculous amounts of rock he'll be digging, he'll probably make ****loads of stone picks and still have more cobble than he knows what to do with. It's no stretch of the imagination to assume that he'll hit significant amounts of diamond and iron while he's digging, as well, which could easily let him get all the picks he needs without any hax whatsoever.
Still, assuming that he's working with absolute flat land at exact sea level: 150 * 100 * 64 = 960,000 blocks...
Good luck, man. YOU'LL NEED IT. :iapprove:
(Actually, I think it's more about patience and determination than luck, but whatever...)

posted a message on Is there really a way to change the cave sounds in Audacity?
Replacing sounds really isn't that hard, but it's just a really long and annoying process.
STEP 1: Download Zuriki's Sound Swapper, already posted earlier in the thread.
STEP 2: Find the Minecraft files in C:\Users\[Your name here]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft. This may be different depending on your OS (I'm using Windows 7), so just try similar paths until you find it. Also note that AppData is a hidden folder, so you'll have to enable showing hidden files in the control panel.
STEP 3: From the .minecraft folder, go to resources\newsound\ambient\cave. This folder has all 13 of the cave sounds in it.
STEP 4: Open Audacity. If you need help with this, please step away from the computer and proceed to jump out of the nearest fifth-story window.
STEP 5: What you do from here depends on what you want to do with your sounds. If you want to make different sounds, you'll have to do some searching around the Intarwebzz for the sounds you want, download or record them, then skip ahead to STEP 8. If you want simple silence, go on to the next step.
STEP 6: Open cave1.ogg in Audacity by simply dragging it into the window. After a few seconds, you should see a bunch of blue squigglies appear. Highlight the whole sound by pressing CTRL+A (make sure that Audacity is the active window).
STEP 7: In the tool bar on top, click on "Generate", then click on "Silence..." in the drop down menu. Ignore the crap in the window that pops up, just click OK. All the blue squigglies should now look like a long blue line.
STEP 8: Click on "File" > "Export...", then create a new folder in the packs folder that should have come with Zuriki's Sound Swapper. Name the folder whatever relevant name you want, then begin creating new folders in a similar structure to those under the resources folder mentioned earlier. Since we're making cave sounds, you'll want to make it like this: [Folder containing the Sound Swapper]\packs\[Your sound pack's folder name]\newsound\ambient\cave. Save your new sound there as cave1 (Make sure that it will be saved as an .ogg by selecting "Ogg Vorbis Files" under the "Save as Type" menu!).
STEP 9: Once again, what you do here depends on what sounds you want in the caves. If you're making several different sounds, repeat from STEP 5 until you have all the cave sounds that you want (remember that there's a max of 13), and skip ahead to STEP 11. If you're making silence, go on to the next step.
STEP 10: Go into the cave folder containing your silent cave1.ogg, and copy-paste it 12 times. Rename each file cave2, cave3, cave4, etc., until you have 13 sequentially numbered sound files.
STEP 11: Close Audacity. If it asks you to save, click No, since it will save it as an Audacity project file that you will probably never need again, anyway. Open Zuriki's Sound Swapper.
STEP 12: Click on the "Disable Sounds" button and open Minecraft. If you have the downloadable client and it's in the same folder as the Sound Swapper, then you can simply click the button. Otherwise, just open it using your normal method.
STEP 13: Once you've logged in and you're at the title screen, go over to the Sound Swapper window and select the name of the sound pack folder you created earlier, then click on the "Swap Sounds!" button. Click "Yes" in the pop-up, and wait. Once you get a pop-up saying that it's done, click "OK" and close the Sound Swapper. Re-enable sounds in Minecraft.
STEP 14: There is no real step 14, just play Minecraft as usual now. If you come across a deep cavern, you should now (hopefully) hear your new sounds, and/or lack thereof!
    STEP 15: The game.
Also, off-topic side note, I'm actually the one who the OP was quoting. I feel warm and fuzzy, especially since that was one of my favorite posts. :biggrin.gif:

posted a message on Slimes are invading my peaceful explorations D:
The tiny slimes are like subterranean chickens. They're small, make too much damn noise, they're annoyingly jumpy and difficult to hit, and when you're not looking, they conspire to push you off ledges. Only since you're deep underground, said ledges involve lava about 99.9999% of the time.

    ...

    *Plop*
P.S.: I wish I could see some of those adorable little bastards. I want to take one home and name him Eric. He will accompany me throughout my mines, and his delightful squishiness will make digging out redstone that I will never use that much more fulfilling. :biggrin.gif:
