posted a message on Add thrist and tirdeness
It's one thing to conjecture about hypothetical new bars in the game, but it's a whole different thing to actually experience them. In other words, what sounds good on paper might be complete, unadulterated horseshit in the actual game (or something that sounds bad might turn out very good as well).

Did you actually try to envision in your mind how these various bars would impact gameplay, or did you just write down some random stuff that would only suit a realism-nazi? More bars =/= more fun. Adding more bars wouldn't necessarily make things more difficult, just more tedious.

Let's take the dragon boss as an example. It has really really high health, and yet it is easy to defeat. The fight is not challenging, it is tedious. Adding more health onto the dragon would just make it more tedious with no difficulty increase, and the same goes for more "bodily function" bars.

posted a message on Edible Flesh.
This can already be sort of done. Just capture a cow, lock it up in a cell, fill up a bucket with milk, eat some rotten flesh, and then have that bucket ready to drink when a rotten flesh poisons you. Bam!

    Quote from narutoall76

Possible, but to much of a hassle.I want a full grown tree,if i wanted to wait
then i may as well just go out into the forest.

The OP said VERY SPECIFICALLY that the overall time between sapling and fully grown would be the exact same.

posted a message on GAME FIX: Remove weather in Chunks Above Cloud Layer.
Yeah, rain is extremely annoying. I personally just use TMI's weather feature to turn rain off the instant it starts. Rain is only really useful if you are in a roofed-in quarry, because then Endermen will teleport down to you.

posted a message on What New Content do you want?
    Let's see...

    1. Modding API.

    2. More slabs and stairs, why the heck has this been neglected for so long?

    3. Enchanting rebalancing/updating.

    4. Something worthwhile in the Nether that doesn't involve Fortresses or Blaze Rods.

    5. A new ore or two.

    6. More randomly generated structures, such as ruins.

    7. Make pigs not obsolete to cows. Seriously, cows give milk, leather, and meat. A pig gives only meat. Cows drop a minimum of 1 meat per kill. A pig more often than not drops nothing per kill. Cows can/often do drop 3 meat per kill. Pigs rarely drop 1, much less even 2 meat. Steak is equally as effective as a cooked porkchop, but easier to collect en masse. I think that cows should not drop more than 1 meat per kill, and that pigs should not drop fewer than 1 porkchop per kill.

    8. Increase the cow's leather dropping rate to match its current meat dropping rate.

    9. Cosmetic lanterns that DON'T MAKE TORCHES BURN OUT. They would simply look cool and probably give off higher light, as well as being placeable on ceilings and in water.

    10. Other stuff that I'm too lazy to remember.

In short: More bars =/= more fun.

And your poll needs an option for "No."

This would allow duplication via the fortune enchantment. There also isn't a reason for this, ore blocks are one of the luxuries of silk touch, and should stay that way.

Cooper just suggested that they don't drop minerals when broken, only an ore again. This means that breaking a manufactured redstone ore, for example, would give you a manufactured redstone ore instead of redstone dusts. And silk touch is utterly pathetic right now. You can't even harvest glass with it.

A thought occurs. The recipe requires four of the material (coal, iron, etc.). If you used this to create redstone or lapis, even getting only one ore block, you could rebreak it and get far more than you put in. Redstone ore breaks into a whole bunch of the stuff. Same for lapis.

Perhaps this method should provide a "crafted ore" item that drops no ore when broken.

That sounds like a reasonable compromise. And you mean "drops no minerals," not "drops no ore" when broken. When broken, they would just drop the cosmetic ore block again so that they cannot be farmed.

posted a message on Obsidian stairs, tools and half blocks and more!!!
Although I personally don't care for obsidian tools, I think I know of a way that could make them worth using but not overpowered. Basically, their durability would be between stone/iron, their mining speed would be that of gold, and they would have a fairly high enchantability (still a lot less than gold's of course).

EDIT: And yes, we really should have a lot more stairs and slabs. It's incredibly pathetic that such a highly-demanded feature has been completely ignored for such a long time (and instead we get a bunch of things that are cool but that nobody ever asked for...)

    Quote from Justizin

Obsidian is ugly. Theres no way you could make a nice build with it. That's my perspective.

    No support.

Ugly is often a matter of perspective. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Just because you don't like how it looks doesn't mean that nobody should be able to build things with it.

    Quote from Justizin

That's more hassle to the texturepack creators. Having a block simply cut in half would ruin many blocks. Why? Having them split into would ruin the design of it.

By that logic, we should never add any new blocks ever again because then texture pack creators would need to make more textures.

Just a question, do you plan on adding slabs and stairs for some of the blocks you added (such as smooth sandstone, asphalt, etc.)?

This may possibly be exploitable with lapis and redstone, as those drop more than 1 item per ore. This would be especially true with Fortune-enchanted pickaxes. This could even be exploited with DIAMONDS if you have a Fortune pickaxe (coal would be exploitable as well with this, but it wouldn't be nearly as bad as diamonds).

posted a message on New weapons
Isn't it funny how this is becoming an anti-gun thread?

And anyways, the bow already covers every ranged niche we would ever need. And the sword already covers every melee niche that we would ever need. Any new weapon would either be useless to the bow/sword or a straight-upgrade to the bow/sword.

posted a message on Cobalt Ore
Back onto the topic: I've been looking through cobalt's wikipedia page and am having a hard time coming up with new uses for it.

The use of a blue pigment is already covered by lapis.

Cobalt is often used in batteries, but then again we already have redstone.

Cobalt can also be used as a catalyst for chemical reactions, but how would we make use of that in Minecraft? The only thing I can think of is some kind of catalyst for a souped-up version of TnT...which probably is not even remotely realistic.

Cobalt is also a source of gamma rays, but again, what the heck could we do with that?

Lastly, it is often used in "superalloys" in things such as jet engine turbines. This might have some kind of use as a strong building material and/or tool tier. But that is all I can come up with right now.

posted a message on Unbreaking armor
    Quote from redsand

Clay only takes 4 balls to make a block. If you got more than 4, you can just craft the blocks, place them and reharvest for more. Same reason why iron/gold aren't affected by it. I'm unsure about what they should do about books. They do require another resource, but it's still the same principle.

Oh snap, I just checked the wiki and I never knew that clay blocks could be made (I only thought they occurred naturally)...hooray for brainfarts.

    Quote from redsand

They don't have that because you would be able to farm them.

If they do add unbreaking for armor, it should only have one level. Armor lasts long enough.

For the axes getting more books thing, you still need wood to make more bookshelves (which is very easy to reproduce but still). It's aimed more at breaking bookshelves in strongholds and/or villages than farming (although it could be used for both of course). People can already indirectly farm books via suger cane, which is not very hard to grow. It's not any worse than getting 4 diamonds from a single diamond ore (Fortune pickaxe).

And the clay part isn't farmable because clay cannot be manufactured.
