I'd also suggest keeping what else might have changed to in mind, its possibly another mod interacting with it.

Hello i dont know if this is an issue so i come to ask here : I'm trying to use the Tape measure so it work fine i can select thing in radial menu but suddently the color turned to gray so i try to change if by selecting another color in the radial menu but nothing happen, it say "Color - White" then i use it and it turn back to gray, i try to change it again and gray again, what can i do about that ? When i started to use it the color was white, fine i can see the measuring clearly, and suddently it decide to stay gray forever >_<

Are you saying that the selected color is always changing back to grey? or that no matter what color you select they all appear as grey?

Have you tried reproducing the issue in a new world? Tried making an instance with just C&B and seeing if the issue persists?

Do you think it's possible to add in a chisel/new item/config with the capability of chiseling blocks, but replacing the chiseled area with the next item (to the left) in the hotbar, It'll be easier and faster to replace bits.

I'm not entirely sure what your asking for here..

But if your trying to replace bits, I'd suggest updating and using the replacement option on the radial menu when using bits. It lets you replace parts of blocks without chiseling first.

While I was playing this morning, I was wondering if it was possible to divide a block into 32 blocks?

    Thank you

Are you asking if rather then 16x16x16 it can be 32x32x32? If so, technically yes... but its a terrible idea.

    16 = 4096 Bits, 32 = 32,768 bits

I choose 16 because its the same size as pixels in the default texture pack, and because its the point at which the number bits bits spirals out of control.

Hello, i have a suggestion, or a question, depends on how you view it. Why don't you make an option for full block placement/removal with chisel in radial menu cause i think it can be very useful when I have a lot of bits in my backpack and when I want to empty my bags and make full blocks fast, or when I want to collect bits by harvesting full blocks fast. Currently I think fastest way for that is to use quarter of a block option, so this would be four times faster.

The fastest way to get bits is either "Same Material" chisel mode or crafting. ( both of these are fairly recent improvements so make sure your using the latest builds )

"Same Material" affects the entire block, so if your chiseling "full block of stone" one chisel will remove the entire block.

    or via crafting

And if you put a chisel + bag + block into the crafting table you can convert the blocks into bits in your inventory

    --

The fastest way to return bits to blocks is actually with patterns or crafting.

You can make a positive pattern of a full block, then use that pattern in 'placement' mode to place entire blocks each with a single click.

    or via crafting

You can make a positive pattern of a full block, then use a bag + pattern in a crafting table to pull out full blocks.

The new versions of my mods are now available for 1.11, remember to report any bugs or issues to the github so they can get properly fixed.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are a fair number of them, 1.11 is a bit tricky. Anyway hopefully I caught the worst of them before today.

I suppose every mod has little details some people would find useful and others not so much.

This is true, I suppose enough people have asked for it, that there must be something to it, ( github )

Love the mod and what it offers, the ability to build practically anything you want given the time ans patience. Few suggestions though, the ability to either whitelist or lock slots in the bit bags so you can have some specific for stone/clay or however you would like to organize them. As well as a way to name or label the bags depending on their content. Different colour wool or dyes to change the bag colours or if it's possible to name them. I don't mind having a separate bag of holding or storage full of bit bags, but the ability to organize them would be ideal for a grab and go situation rather than having to haul around and search through the whole lot.

White-listing bags has been requested for some time, Its always seemed silly to me it would just make your inventory explode full of bits when you accidentally chisel the wrong material or something, causing you to hastily make a new bag, or un-white list the bag so you can store then undo your mistake.. I suppose it might help for remaining organized, but in general it just seems like it would cause larger annoyances then it saves, but maybe I'm missing something.

As for the other request, You could always name them with an anvil. As for seeing whats in them, just hold shift when mousing over them.

Maybe colors could be helpful, visual cues like that are nice you could easily spot which bag you want without sifting though them by name, or by holding shift. ( Github )

I actually use most, if not all, of the mods for decoration-construction (Extra Utilities, Bibliocraft, Chisel2, Carpenter's Blocks, Better Builders, Buildcraft and etc) but i watched a video on youtube about your mod and i loved it, some screenshots in this thread prove this mod brings new horizons to building in minecraft

I was mostly referring to https://mods.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/224600-ye-gamol-chattels or http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1288124-0-2-6-mine-painter-simple-sculpture-and-pixel-art for 1.7 both allow voxel sculpting on 1.7 from what I hear, however I can't say how it compares to C&B, like I said, I've never used them.

Where i can find this patch?

https://github.com/MinecraftForge/MinecraftForge/commit/76f8843017764949d73105e9a344807d0f39df59 this probably won't help much on 1.7, since that code is completely different. but its there none the less.

Said this, can you tell me if chiselsandbits-8.12.jar is the recommended version to start backport to 1.7.10?

I have years of experience with Java but never tried modding, i want do it for personal use only

I agree with what Phylogeny has already said. Your going to have to become intimate with two versions of the MC code base and/or end up re-writing large sections of code anyway. Simply because how C&B works doesn't exist on 1.7, it functions based on model analysis, but 1.7 doesn't have models. You'll also have to fix some light issues that have plagued vanilla until recently, I submitted a patch to forge for 1.8 but you'd have to back-port the forge patch for that. Or work around it in your re-write of the C&B Rendering logic some how.

If your confident in your skill, and want to give it a go anyway, then by all means, I'd say the newest version makes the most since since its got the most features, and fixes in it. Of course some of those fixes are for post 1.7 threading changes or other things that may or may not apply.. like MCMP.

But you might be better off just using one of the 1.7 mods that have related features, I've never used them myself but there are a few that exist.

Something I would love to see for your C&B mod... bags with a filter option.. I try to use one bag per bit type and with a filter... make it an option of course. No idea how hard it would be to code. (do not code Java, but do write code).

In the same vein... an option to delete excess bits of the filtered type. (similar to barrels or drawers void upgrade, that might be a place to "borrow" some code from). Just a thought, and something I have wished for since the first hour I used the mod.

I believe this has already been suggested, I'm not sure if, or how I would like to accomplish it however, I don't want to over complicate things... which is is sad, because things are already very complicated...

For now you can delete the type of bits from a bag by dragging the type over the delete button, that should help to an extent.

Well pick-blocking just gives me the block I'm looking at, but the Creative Inventory does have all the bits. Thanks very much.

You have to be holding a bit, to pick a bit. Or be focused on a chiseled block with the chisel, that should do it as well.
