posted a message on Generate personal world for every player (bukkit? custom script?)

I have an idea for a server, and it involves players having their own personal floating island. Only I'm not quite sure how to accomplish this. Basicly what I want is a system that works quite similar to the plugin PlotMe, but that creates a new and totally empty world (using a plugin like Multiverse) with a floating island. Just creating a world is quite easy with multiverse, but I want to automatically generate the world for all players, or at least give the players the ability to create it themselves. (but only once, so I cant just give everyone permission to the comand that lets a player create new worlds). I also want players to be able to go back and forth between their personal world and the mani "hub" world, so I also need an expandeble menu system that lets players chose what world to go to.

I think I can at least create the world generation per player using a bash script that reeds the output of my server and can imput comands bak to it, but I used this technique before, and it never quite works 100%, and it also seems like a bit of a work around. Is their any bukkit/spigot plugin that you guys know of that dose what I what? Or a combination of multiple plugins?

Any suggestions on plugins or other ideas on how to accomplish this are welcome!

Copy something like you normally would outside of Minecraft, and then use ctrl+v instead.

This works on windows and used to work for mac, but mojang has changed it to +V (cmd+V) for mac users in a recent update. (the default paste keyboard short cut for mac OS X outside of minecraft is also +V)

How does the teleportation work? Does the player drop the eye of ender of does he use it (right click)?

    Sorry for the late reply...
Currently the system is setup so that is a player richt-clicks the eye of ender, all entity's in a 5 block radius get teleported. This uses an execute command: "/execute @e[type=EyeOfEnderSignal] ~ ~ ~ /spreadplayers <X of spawn> <Y of spawn> 1 3 false @e[r=10]" The /spreadplayers could also be a /tp command, but I personaly didin't like the fact that would put all entity's in the same block, so I used spreadplayers to spread them around a few blocks.
If you want you can also replace that last @e[r=10] (all entity's within 10 blocks) with @a[r=10] (all playert within 10 blocks) or even @p (nearest player).
This command is simply put in a command block, and run with a hopper clock. I also have a few extra commands that play a particle effect where the player disappears and one where he appears again, and one that plays sound effects, but that's all optional.

    Hope that answered your question!

posted a message on SMP - Rename/Replace specific items in player inventory
I run a small vanila multyplayer server, witch uses commandblocks to add a few extra features, including a system to teleport players to the spawn area. This system uses an Eye of Ender to teleport all entity's in a short radius to spawn. To make this system slightly more user-friendly, A player can purchase an Eye of Ender (renamed to "Spawn teleporter" with a short explenation on how to use it in the item lore) from a vilager in spawn.

I noticed a few players got confused about the difference between a purchased spawn teleporter, and a crafted eye of ender. In order to clarify this, i would like that If a player crafts an Eye of Ender, it automatically gets renamed to "Spawn teleporter" and (if posible) also have the lore explaining how to use the item.

I was thinking about using the /replaceitem command, but I don't really get how that command works... Is this possible?

    Anyone have any tips/ideas?

If it generates the EULA file it should also generate a folder called "logs" with all of the log files for the server. try to see if you can find an error message in the log files storred in that folder, or see if it saved a crach report.

that could cause lag if there are too many people, if this is for single player this should work fine but for a server with many people on it the more people the more entity lag and particle the lag the server has to render as you kill each entity

It's only a small server (only 8 slots right now) and so far I haven't had any lag issues. Also, I don't think the server has to render any particles when it kills the entity's, since they are invisible (but I could be wrong their, maybe it's just not displaying the particles to the players)

You could display it it chat by doing /spawnpoint @a I did think of that, and it would work, but that would also inconvenience some players.

They would not respawn at their bed's, but where they happened to be when their location was last logged. This could even trap a player in an eternal circle of death, if it set the players spawnpoint while he is falling in a ravine for instance.

Finally figured it out. It's not a very elegant solution, but it works.

First I made a hopper timer that outputs a signal every 5 minutes or so.

That signal activates the first comandblock, that will run the command "/execute @a ~ ~3 ~ /summon ArmorStand ~ ~ ~ {CustomName:"LocationLogger",CustomNameVisible:0,Invisible:1,NoGravity:1}" This will summon an invisible armor stand at every players location. (thnx @Ripka_The_One!)

The next comandblock has to wait 4 tics before it gets powered so that the first command has time to finish, and then runs the command "/execute @a ~ ~ ~ /tp @e[type=ArmorStand,name=LocationLogger,r=5] ~ ~ ~" This will teleport the armor stand to it's current location, and output that in the log. Because the player is teleporting the armorstand, and the armor stand isin't teleporting itself, the playername will also be shown in the log file.

One tick after that command the next comandblock activates, killing the ArmorStands using the command "/kill @e[type=ArmorStand,name=LocationLogger]"

Thees 3 comands wil output this in the log file:

[Server thread/INFO]: [Adsini_micky: Object successfully summoned]

    [Server thread/INFO]: [Adsini_micky: Teleported LocationLogger to 498.73593178000203, 2.20000004768371, -15.553155319953534]

    [Server thread/INFO]: [@: Killed LocationLogger]

In this case there are unwanted lines in the log, (in this case I'm only interested in the second line) but this will work just fine for now.

The problem with teleporting an armour stand to all players, is that that it can only be teleported to one player at once, so it will only work is there is only one player online. (I think)

I run a small vanila minecraft server, and I was wondering if there is a way to log the positions of all players using comandblocks. It just needs tp write the location of all players in to the server log every 2,5 minutes or so.

What I originally tried was to make a redstone clock, that would teleport @a to ~ ~ ~ every 2,5 minutes or so. This kind-of worked, but I wassent totaly happy with it. I could find a players location, only the problem I had is that by teleporting the players, the comandblock would dismount any players riding a horse, minecart or boat. This is quite annoying, and I was hoping there was a better alternative.

Dose anybody have any other ideas for comands that could achieve a similar result without inconveniencing the player? Or maybe a totally different way to log their locations?

    Any help is appreciated! :D

posted a message on Teleport all players with potion effect
Is there a way to teleport every player that has a certain potion effect? (weakness for instance)

I need a way for players on a vanilla server to teleport to spawn without having to be OP. (So without having access to /tp) If this is impossible, anny other ways to allow players to trigger a teleport command are welcome to, but I would like it if it wassent infinitely useable, but has to be renewed. I also don't want it to interfere with any survival mechanics.

    Any help is much appreciated!

posted a message on How do you raid an obsidian base covered in lava on top of the nether in factions?
If the server has essentials installed, you can try to jump in lava under their base, and before you burn up, type /home. Than type /back, and essentials will place you on the first "safe" block above your last location. So no longer in the lava, but on top of the nether at the same X and Z location.

Some servers have 3-second delay before they teleport you, in that case, don't jump in lava. Get under their base with a friend, type /home, and ask your friend to replace the block you where standing on with lava, than use /back to get onto of the nether in to their base.

Tip: Test without any items in your inventory first! THIS MAY NOT WORK ANYMORE!

posted a message on Get my server to admin only?
Add everyone to the whitelist, ("/whitelist add <playername>" or add their usernames in the whitelist.txt file in you're server folder) and set whitelist to true. ("/whitelist on" or change the whitelist option in server.properties to true) This should prevent any players that are not Oped or on the whitelist from joining the server.

You can always download the map, open it with MCeddit, select the effected area, and replace all the portal blocks with air.
