I like gold just for golden apples and carrots and building powered rails. Those are the best uses.

Will they auto attack iron golems? Perhaps you can set up an iron golem to attack one and aggro the rest.

posted a message on Auto beet farm... help

Well, I found a solution to my beet farm and things should now work as intended. Instead of replacing my farmer or bringing in a second villager, I took a chance and lured a zombie into the cell. The idea was the zombie will either kill or convert the villager. If killed, I would replace, if turned, i had weakness potion and a golden apple on standby. Upon cure, he'd be reset and I can then refill his inventory with seeds.

Fortunately, he turned instead of died. So I did away with the zombie and cured the farmer. I know it worked because he went from shepherd to fletcher.

I would suggest when going into the nether for the first time to make some golden apples until you can brew potions. Build a safe zone once you reach the fortress, put fire protection on your armor.

Can you set up a pigman within reach and punch it to aggro the rest?

My game hangs up too when saving. It happens often enough now that I tense up when I see auto save counting down, cross my fingers and hold my breath. There does not seem to be a cause to it. I used to think it was due to moving or being active right at save, but it appears to be random with no correalation to anything. I tried taking it off auto save but it doesn't make any difference whether I save manually or not, it will hang up and there's nothing to be done, nothing to prevent it. So i just save every fifteen minutes and hope for the best.

In console, you can turn off pvp, which also works on pets. So you don't accidentally kill them. Good for single player mode.

Console minecraft does have a tutorial and a free map at spawn. Maybe he could try that version.

I have a breeder already and a full trading center. I thought about including a second villager just to have the other throw food and hopefully get rid of those beets. I may have to do that. I just wonder if it would be less trouble to simply replace him

posted a message on Auto beet farm... help

I wanted to make an auto beet farm using a villager. I got everything set up, hoppers, railing, minecart hopper, crops, and villager. But... I think I screwed up big time. I fear I did not fill his inventory with beetroot seeds like I thought and he has picked up all the beets he harvested. Now he's full of beets and seeds and won't harvest anymore. Will I have to kill and replace him or is there another possibility i can try?

I went through a lot of trouble getting him in there, and i gave all the beetroot seeds I had to him. I'm at a loss.

I believe that would be wonderful! Having any sort of visual guide for manual crafting would be a huge help. Is the duping due to the auto-crafting mechanic being ridiculously exploitable or because it's written in different code from the PC? Either way its a valid concern, especially if servers were to try to use the auto-crafting.

Most dupe glitches I have seen require auto crafting because of block versions of items. The first I knew of exploited a glitch involving a chest. If you open a chest at the same time you pause the game, the chest will remain open and you can toss whatever is in hot tray, and it will be both thrown while still remaining in your hot tray. You then break those in your hot tray, then swoop in and collect the ones on the ground. Rinse repeat, almost infinite resources if it's something that can be made into blocks and then broken up into pieces again. Like diamonds, iron, gold, redstone, emeralds, and coal. You can imagine what most used it for.

Of course, that dup was patched out months ago, but every new update gets a new dup glitch

Console player here. One of the reasons why I prefer console over pc.

The only problem with auto crafting though, as much as I love it, there is nothing set up for quick repairs of tools and armor. Playing hard mode grants you a lot of free weapons from mobs, like armor, swords, bows, and they're almost always nearly broken. I wind up repairing these to make room for more in my chest. It's a pain having to check and uncheck the classic crafting option just to make repairs to unenchanted items or waste XP doing it on the anvil.

Plus, in an effort to quell youtubers from.exposing dup glitches common on console because of the auto crafting mechanic, recipes often get repositioned and placed in different catagories making them difficult to to locate. Sometimes, you wind up looking that up instead of recipes.

What I would love to see is a blend of both. Meaning that the crafting grid can be toggled in auto crafting and still function the same while the menu for auto crafting items and recipes be listed along side it where you have the option to simply view and craft or have it made for you.

posted a message on What are your Key Bindings?

I set the movement keys to the arrow keys and use the mouse left handed. I am left handed, but i still had to readjust because i'd always used a mouse right handed. I had a hard time remembering the default buttons and the arrow keys just make more sense.
