    Quote from TwoPurple

I am running a long-time server (2 years) with 20 - 25 players logged on at any one time, sometimes as many as 30. We are having significant trouble with tick lag.

I do not understand linux and I don't want to learn, so I am assuming that a dedicated box will not work for us. I like McMyAdmin.

We have players from Singapore to Poland. We find that hardware on the east coast of North America works well for us. We are all adults and money in reasonable amounts is not a problem.

PLEASE NO COOKIE-CUTTER ADS. Please refer to http://www.sk89q.com...rs-performance/

I think we need as fast a processor as possible to minimize the unavoidable handicaps of the game. We are working on the other suggestions in the above-referenced article. Please do not answer it you have not read/do not understand the article and the problem.

    Thank you.

I see Youssef has replied regarding the server at Virtual Gladiators. I am part owner, and a Linux Engineer for 20+ years now.

I can personally help you with your performance issues. When customers have issues like yours we will put them on Spigot and perform some timing tests to quickly locate the underlying problem.

Typically the lag can be traced to one troublesome/outdated plugin. However, every so often we find something like I did last night where someone had multiple WorldGuard regions overlapping, as well as old regions from a previous configuration that accounted for over 800% of the ticks! (TPS 17 and worse.) Once the regions were deleted, the lag disappeared and they were running at 19.96 to 20 TPS. I was even flying around at speed 5 and using a Lightning power tool repeatedly. No lag what-so-ever.

We are also very good at finding the source of crashing servers. We use scanning programs that will quickly scan your world for corruption, excessive entities, etc. and can also fix the world by deleting only the affected chunks to prevent having to perform a complete rollback.

For many hosting providers the answer can also be traced to the common denominator - over-subscription of customers. Virtual Gladiators will never over-subscribe our servers. We will also move the resource hogs (BigDig!) to servers with fewer customers so that everyone is happy and lag free.
