Released updates for 1.6.6. Bugfixes in Charlotte (getting mauled by pet wolves when using "healing hands"), Nekos (won't attack you anymore when you try to sleep in a bed). Note that the config file locations changes (now that I use ModLoader's config code instead of my own).

Scaevolus let me know that he is cool with anything you want to do with Optimine so long as you mention Scaevolus was the one that initiated the project. (Curse is giving him an error that the name Scaevolus is already registered even though there is no such Curse user, so he made me tell you.)

Finally updated Charlotte. Was tough. Might do a quick Single Player Commands plugin later for controlling her.

Also, maybe I'll make MinerTrivia "splashes" configurable using a config file.

    I don't know what I did wrong. I placed it in .minecraft/mods.
I haven't tried installing it manually yet.

Fairy mod adds no new items, and that error report says there is an unknown item in a chest. So it must be another mod that does this. You could try installing the TooManyItems mod to prevent crashes related to unknown items in chests. If you are already using it, update to the latest version; earlier versions were prone to crashes related to GUIs. Same for ModLoader -- update it.

For all the people asking for spawnlist to be updated -- it is discontinued. Its functionality has been integrated into modloader. So you only need ModLoader now.

ZenoFire: Sure, go ahead. About Succubi not being able to kill you: I'll investigate.

nhg1: I made Spider Queens only spawn once in a world at a time. Having her spawn multiple times would lead to lag on slower computers, what with all the mobs being spawned ignoring the mob spawn limit. Chances are there already is one in the world somewhere. You could try installing the Single Player Commands mod and doing /bring Squeen to teleport a spider queen to you. Also make sure you are not in fact playing on peaceful.

Thank you 303, for posting these here. I pulled the versions I made, since mine were hacky decomps, and you have the source files, so... yea. I gots Charlotte, you take care o' the rest, boyo!

I was not aware someone else was also updating them. Oh well, it's too late now. I worked with decompiled versions too: I carefully decompiled the mods with MCP so I get nice mappings, then recompiled, fixing problems along the way. Kodaichi did help me with understanding his code. I'd have released the mods earlier (I had most of them done in 1.3_01 and 1.4_01 too), but I wanted to wait for Kodaichi to tell me his wishes. At some point Kodaichi was telling me to release the mod sources in the Public Domain, so I was spending much time polishing the code as best I could. Then Notch's blog posts about his reformed stance on mods happened and Kodaichi told me not to release the source after all -- he might want to work on the mods himself again if things turn out convenient for us modders.

If you want the source code for the mods, go come to the IRC channel I mention in the OP and ask Kodaichi to give me permission to send you the code. It's all MCP code, so I can easily update them.

Anyway, thanks all for bugreports, I'll look into them when I get around to it.

Great job, but where's Spider Families? It's still my favorite...

There is a problem with spider families: They don't play nicely with the Two Insects mod. Sometimes spider babies attack their own mother. I didn't release them just yet because I still need to look into that.

I raised there rarity value, but they just don't appear on my beaches ..
I made a new world, but nothing .. and I searched like 10.000 beaches to find them.

Thanks for pointing that out. I just released v2 of that mod, made spawning less restrictive and upped the default spawnrate. Hopefully that fixes it. In the original version by Kodaichi, brainslimes didn't respect the spawn limit of mobs, so they spawned like crazy. I fixed that and as a consequence, their spawning is much reduced and tied to the number of other hostile mobs in the world. If the world is already saturated with other hostile mobs, brainslimes just can't spawn. Kill a few others perhaps.

Can you do it with Controllable Ridable Wolves? or idk if it has the source code tho..

I won't be updating rideable wolves as Nandonalt would like to include that in his Wolves Extended mod, and there is no point making an incompatible mod to compete with it.

    About Kodaichi's whereabouts:
As Kodaichi has been too busy in real life and grown tired of modding/Minecraft (for now until modding becomes less of a hassle come the modding api), I have taken over updating a bunch of his mods, fixing bugs along the way. He is still alive, rest assured. Kodaichi has taken up modding again! Still, I'll maintain these mods for now. To repeat: I (303) am not the author of these mods, I have been given permission to update them. I have been doing this since 1.3_01.

If you need to contact me (or Kodaichi), your best chance is over at the Minecraft modding IRC channel #risucraft on Esper.net (Click here to use Mibbit to chat.).

Changes I made in several mods: Made them inherit the proper mob class for their mob type, so they respect their spawn limits instead of spawning in uncontrolled numbers. -- Note for other modders: mobs added as EnumCreatureType.creature need to extend EntityAnimal, monster implement IMob, watercreature extend EntityWaterMob. The class is used for counting how many mobs are already in the world for limiting their spawning. If you get it wrong, your mob spawns without limit (see Humans+ mod pirate fail).

    Installing:
I recommend reading the gentle mod install tutorial first.

    Legend:
[MODLOADER] -- Needs ModLoader as a dependency.
[AUDIOMOD] -- Needs AudioMod as a dependency. Mod zip contains a RESOURCES/ folder. Put its contents into .minecraft/resources.
[EXT] -- Works with ModLoader's external loading feature. Put the zip without extracting into .minecraft/mods instead of adding its contents to minecraft.jar. If you don't have a mods/ directory already, create it. You can still just add the zip contents to your minecraft.jar instead, however.
[JAR] -- Does not work with ModLoader's external loading. Put the contents of the zip into your minecraft.jar, as usual.
[CONFIG] -- Creates a config file in .minecraft/mods/kodaichi on first run. A common option is rarity: The relative spawn weight for the mob. The higher, the more common. 10 = pigs, 2 = wolves. Can be less than 1 but greater than 0 if you want to reduce the spawnrate even further. 0 to disable the mob from spawning.

    Troubleshooting:
    • Make sure the mod is for the Minecraft version you are using! Minecraft 1.6.6 mods won't work for 1.7 etc.
    • Check out the gentle mod install tutorial for common solutions.
    • Update the mods and their dependencies, your problem might already be fixed. I sometimes do ninja updates without bumping the version number.
    • Read through the replies in here, someone might have found a solution already.
    • If all fails, contact me on IRC, link is above.

    The mods:

    [simg]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21492879/mod_icons/icon_bellthorn.png[/simg] Bellthorn
    Quote from Kodaichi »
Quite simply, the Bellthorn is a static enemy mob which atttacks anything other than its own species by launching projectiles in an arc towards its target. It's a living being, and will do a warning dance animation if you get too close. If you dig out from underneath the flower, there's a chance you will get a bulb which you can replant somewhere else. Also, if you hold a bulb in your hand, you will emit the Bellthorn's scent, which will cause other Bellthorns to think you are one of them (which renders them harmless).

Although I did not make or update this mod (yet!), Kodaichi asked me to add his new Bellthorn mod to my archive for the sake of completeness. Questions about it belong in his thread:

    Quote from Kodaichi »
Charlotte is a little bit dopey, kind of loud, and a bit high-maintenance, but there's not too many companions out there as helpful as she is. She'll carry weapons for you, fight for you with swords, heal you, and even warn you of nearby danger. She'll follow you to the ends of the earth, and happily sit on your shoulders as you embark on a grand journey. Just be careful to keep both her and yourself alive.
    - thread

    303's changes:
    • Completely reworked her spawning code. There should be no way of more than one Charlotte in a world, except if you delete the "charlotte" file created in the save folder.
    • To make Charlotte respawn again after she has died, delete the "charlotte" file.
    • Based on the pony tail version of Charlotte's model.
    • Fixed the "healing hands" green color flash.
    • Any flowers, even TehKrush's More Flowers mod flowers, should keep her standing still.
    • Config file: .minecraft/config/charlotte.cfg
    • doNotTarget=Turtle (Comma (,) separated list of names of mobs not to attack)
    • You can now make Charlotte recognize you again after you die by right clicking her with 15 flowers. Previously you had to modify the "charlotte" file in your save folder.
    • Added another failsafe for charlotte dupes, in case of game crashes. Still, try reloading the save when you get dupes anyway.
    • Charlotte will no longer be mauled by tamed pet wolves when you heal her with your healing hands.

This mod contains Brood Maidens and giant flies. Brood Maidens are a boss mob that spawns at night, has a lot of HP, produces loyal insect followers, and also has a backstory. Giant flies are a docile mob that spawns during the day, makes annoying noises, drops flint or leather, and sometimes muches on animals. Included as well are sound effects, texture files, a new cool weapon, creativity and confusion. There's a lot of gameplay to be had in this mod, and the limit of the player's abilities will be tested. The choice you'll have to make is whether or not the Brood Maiden is hotter than she is frightening.

The Fairy Mod has a little something for everyone - while apprearing cute on the outside, the fairies have a very advanced group-oriented AI and change their attitude depending on how you treat them. If you give them flowers they will follow you and be your friend, but if you attack them, all nearby fairies will group up on you and give you one of the harshest beatings you will ever recieve. They can be both a blessing and a curse depending on your style of play, but are harmless as long as you don't slip up and smack one. Quote from Kodaichi »
The Succubus takes a bold step away from the survival aspect of the game and makes the player really think for a minute about whether or not they'd like to die. In the case of the Succubus, you'll likely "die smiling" as she drains the life out of your body after enticing you with her alluring charms. Being a demon, she has a higher authority over other monsters and can easily get alone with your player. Her attack is also quite different than the rest of the monsters, and she can even slow down the player and force the player to look in her direction. The reward for defeating her is sweet however, earning the player a nice new sword and some well-deserved HP. The Nether also has its own counterparts. This mod is certain to light up the night in your Minecraft world.

    Quote from Kodaichi »
Originally intended to be a joke, I accidentally put too much effort into this cat/catgirl mob and it turned into something that people actually enjoyed. Cats are found in nature and partially aggressive towards the player, but through a steady diet of pure fresh cow's milk, their relationship with you will grow and flourish. As they begin to like you more, your connection becomes clearer through the use of onscreen statistics and they will fight enemies for you as well as follow you around. They aren't the best travelling companions though, simply because they are distracted much, much too easily, often leading to their tragic demise.

    Quote from Kodaichi »
These were made back in a time when slimes only existed theoretically, so I decided to give people a little taste of the squashy monsters without destroying the delicate fabric of the game. These slimes are much different than the regular slimes in that they only spawn on beaches, and they attach themselves to the player's head to attack. Little slimes are still harmless, so a player can wear one as a hat. In addition, brain slimes stack on top of each other instinctually to deal more damage output, so a large collection of brain slimes can lead to the formation of an incredibly awesome hat. Just be careful that they don't suck you dry - their pouncing attack is fierce and they will follow you relentlessly.

Besides being controllable by the player, this also lets monster mount pigs, and even better, allows towers of pigs to be ridden. Various funny things can results from riding your giant pig towers, and more pigs make it harder to control. One pig is fine though, and it's enough to help you have that fantasy creeper pig race you've always dreamed of.
