Somebody told this on another oil request, but it was so funny I had to post it here, too. To keep it alive.
If oil was in minecraft, the USA would declare war on it.
Anyways, after that was off my chest. I don't think oil has really a place in minecraft, after all, with buildcraft and what not, and the fact that oil is more of an industrial fuel.
I am a huge fan of tekkit, and I figured that voltz would be cool too, to my dismay, I found it was difficult to get started in as it is a lesser known mod. I wanted to know if there were servers out there that included the voltz mod into the server so I could learn from others!
1. Sandstone and gunpowder have no unstable, nuclear isotopes, turning them into a nuclear weapon is totally impossible.
2. Steve is not educated enough to be able to channel nuclear isotopes into going nuclear and exploding. He will kill himself.
3. Steve does not have proper equipment or knowledge to mine plutonium, uranium, or any other nuclear item. Hell, he can't go deep enough into the earth to get anything more than gold and diamonds, much less plutonium. (However, he could get uranium...)
4. Uranium has to be refined to medical and weapons grade, which is a painful process that begins with several small, parts of the uranium at a time.
5. How would Steve find a way to detonate this bomb without being killed himself? How would he prepare it?!
6. Making a nuclear bomb isn't as simple as instantly putting iron around refined uranium (That'd actually make the nuclear bomb explode if there was no primer.)
One problem I can see with most of these suggestions for use of gas-acid is melting gold with acid. It doesn't happen. There are very few acids which can dissolve gold, and I actually only know of one, which is not a single acid at all but a mixture of two acids in the correct proportions. (Hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids, I believe. Also known as Aqua Regia or Royal Water because of its ability to dissolve the regal metal, gold).
On the other hand, using acid to extract 2 bars of gold from a block instead of the usual 1 bar is at least semi-realistic since the acid would be expected to dissolve the impurities surrounding the gold while leaving the pure gold untouched.
I think it would be more realistic if you could only extract one extra nugget and not a whole extra bar when using acid, but it would probably be too difficult to program.
If gas (and hence acid) was rare, it would be realistic enough and not a game-breaker to allow a gold bar to be crafted along with acid to extract a gold nugget. The acid would vanish in the process, so you could only make 1 nugget for each unit of acid. Effectively, you'd be using the gold bar as a catalyst to convert acid into gold. In imagination, you'd be super-purifying the gold using the acid to extract gold which would otherwise be unreachable.
To make the above even harder to do, you could make it a gold block instead of a gold bar, meaning you'd need to have a pick with Silk Touch enchantment before you could extract nuggets of gold.
And I still like the idea of the gas being visible so that you have some warning of it being there. This is in spite of the fact that most explosive gases are colorless like air.

I ment you could craft gold slabs, and other blocks would melt in acid if it was surrounded by it (8 blocks of acid total, I don't mean the acid pool would burn everything)
I don't know about harming monsters or making moats but using gas to make acid sounds like a great idea!
This is probably a bridge too far but I would have the acid be used in crafting processes rather than as a weapon. If you washed/crafted/used acid with a gold ingot you get... some other type of metal/alloy. if you washed/crafted/used acid on a gold block you get two gold ingots (more efficient than smelting). You need to wash/craft/use acid with netherwart to get... nethermush which you use to make potions or better potions. Just throwing out ideas.
What if normal slabs melted when over this acid, but gold slabs didn't?
I think it might be loading far too many chunks at once. I was playing on a different server and everything was cool and what not, but then I got teleported and it screwed my computer up.
When I try to load tekkit, all is normal until I actually start playing, when I do start it gives me the blue screen of death. I have a great computer, with 16 RAM. I even tried to have the smallest allocated RAM too, 512ish RAM. Can somebody please assist me?
When I try to play tekkit it seems normal until I actually start playing- When I do I will get an error "DMV Drive has sucessfully recovered" Right after a freeze. I am cautious of that error because if I get it again in a single log on, my computer will get the blue screen of death. My ram allocated is the lowest- 512ish MB. I have a very good computer with I think 16 RAM. Any advice/help?

I sat in the Verruckt lobby waiting to start.
