I was exploring for few hours around my world, however, I cant find the mesa biome, because it is rare. Can anyone give me suggestions of how do you find it?
Assuming you're interested in a vanilla solution, your best and only solution is to locate the arid climes in your world . . . the deserts and the savannah . . . and search the surrounding biomes. Mesas are rare. It may take you quite a long time.
If you're not adverse to non-vanilla methods, try AMIDST. Or a middle ground might be to load your seed into a creative world. Flying would shorten your search.
Try the seed Mom. You spawn in a mesa- to be more specific a bryce mesa. There is also a desert village nearby.

If you are running vanilla Minecraft (that is with no mods) you can download the program Amidst and it will give you a fast way to check out a LOT of biome maps without actually creating the worlds in Minecraft.
You can enter a seed or let it pick one at random and then it will produce a large area map of what the world will look like.
Amidst is not a mod. and will not change or add anything in your Minecraft folder.
Also, just check the posts for the last couple of months for version 1.7 seeds in the seeds forum: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/50-seeds/

If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
Amidst is very useful for this sort of thing. Otherwise, you should use a horse and search for arid biomes such as desert and savanah, and you'll be more likely to find a mesa near them.
Yeah, I did that as well a while back - turns out my nearest Mesa biome is something like 4500 blocks east and 8000 blocks north from my base. Still my nethercart station will make it easier to reach!
A major flaw to the new biome system is that there's very little structure apart from simple segregation into climate zones. In other words, there's no way to know you're *close* to zone X until you're there.
The one pattern for Mesa zones is that they are most common at the edge of hot zones (desert/savanna). So if you want to look honestly, look for hot zones, and then go around the edges. I'd recommend a square spiral search with a spacing of 2000 blocks to find the hot zones - they are often large, and almost always large when they're next to a Mesa.
Actually I have a significant tip for *finding* a mesa in vanilla: search along coastlines. A hot zone will be downgraded to a warm zone if it's next to a cool or snowy zone on any of its four sides. But water doesn't count so the more water is next to an area the more likely it will be hot or snowy.
