The 1.6 update which was awhile ago updated the fire spreading to a minimum. It helps if you have a wooden house, but you cant burn wool to the ground like Simon does. :sad.gif: Is it yea or nay?
The answer just depends on how you play the game. SMP players who play on servers that allow fire are loving this. People who play Adventure Maps don't really like it because burning puzzles lose their fun because it takes so long. In SSP it just depends if you like burning stuff or not...
I personally think it's better to have that sort of thing under control. The previous setup for fire could crash both the client and server from too many updates. Perhaps there should be a variable in the server.properties file that controls fire spread rates.

good idea maybe notch should read this! :biggrin.gif:
i remember when someone on our smp server "accidentally" set fire to a tree. we ended up running around for several ingame days chopping down the remaining burning wood blocks (it was the time when wood could burn infinitely) over a very large area. it was kind of cool, because there was lots of loot lying around from the burnt mobs. but the lag was unbelievable. so i voted yes, although imo the burning process could be a bit quicker.
here's a pic but it doesn't show the scale of that hell on earth :laugh.gif:
On an adventure map, heck no!
When fighting against griefers, heck yes!
