I run Minecraft on a 144hz display, and my desktop default refresh rate is set to 144hz. Whenever I quit Minecraft, it sets my refresh rate to 60hz. This happens with both the default LWJGL libraries and the up to date ones I replaced them with. Happens regardless of desktop environment. Is there any solution for this? If not, is there any way to restrict java from changing my resolution and refresh rate settings?
Current Setup:
Ubuntu 12.10 64bit
NVIDIA card and proprietary drivers.
KDE Desktop Environment
java version "1.6.0_27"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.12.3) (6b27-1.12.3-0ubuntu1~12.10.1)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)
Though having a constant 60fps is already the best you can get, even though you have a monitor with a higher refresh rate. You will not be able to differentiate it anyways with the naked eye.

No, you don't know what you are talking about. I am referring to refresh rate, not frame rate. The game runs over 300 fps for me, and at 144hz. Upon quitting the application, it changes my desktop refresh rate to 60hz.
Do not get me started on this "the human eye can't see past XXfps" pseudoscience.

As this seems to be out of the scope in this section, I suggest asking here.
