I've been having trouble with that tricky lil' aux.class file. This file NEEDS to be renamed. Aparentley, aux.class is some sort of a magic word for Windows. When trying to copy it, I recieve an error with error code 0x80004005, or something like that... And it won't copy. I am also unable to open it, doesn't let me go there. I don't use Windstream or winzip, I occasionally use 7zip though. I usually just extract the files and edit them there. Help, please!

are you attempting to install a mod? if not, why are you trying to move a .class?

Yes, I am trying to install a mod, and to do so, I must extract the files to an alternate folder (I'm awesome, so I don't need to rely on winrar or winzip)
If your awesome it should work. Just download an archiving program. 7zip seems to be the best in my opinion. There are some names windows wont let you name things as. aux is one of them.
Don't copy it, you can't copy it. Windows won't let the file exist. Either extract all BUT that class. NO mods should use that class, since they can't name it. Or just directly install mods with 7zip or something.
when i downloaded the snapshot it downloaded as a jar file ,go into your winzip or what ever program you use to open jar files and deselect jar files to be associated with the program
My response was to the couple of people who hijacked your thread with snapshot issues.
You can't change the name of aux.class with windows, you have to use a tool that will let you do it.
I was able to do it once with 7zip, and then another time I had trouble, so .. it may depend upon exactly how you invoke the rename operation (right click, pull down menu, etc).
Me: "Yes."

That's the official link (or forum official) for the snapshot, which is a jar file.
A jar is a zip with a different extension and IE is trying to "help" you
Really? I'm smart enough not to use IE... And yes, the minecraft .zip is something I always change back to .jar. I did remember THAT.
