My friend and I have a private server and we have decided to install some mods, however I am having some issues doing so. I am not sure if it makes anything different but I am using a VPS so I do not have the files locally but I can, and do, use an FTP client to add files to the server.
Here are a few general points and questions that may help you give me better advice.
1) We want to install forge mods, are there still separate mods for servers or is it all universal?
2) Is it possible to install forge mods on a vanilla 1.4.7 server?
1. As far as i know, mostly all of them are universal, but check depending on the mod.
2. Yes, you can. Unless it says it is not compatible
3. Use a program like winrar and add the class files and folders to the server.jar
3. ...
6. Bukkit is a better option in my opinion, since you do not need client mods.Just install some plugins.
Rmour, I run into you in the strangest of places....
On Topic: You can use forge with bukkit (bukkitforge) to combine both. Using this mod, most plugins will be usable on your server, and the mods as well.
