If you would like a 24/7 Minecraft server, you either need a host or you will do it yourself at home. I recommend getting a host and asking around for a sponsorship. There is always 1 person or company ready for you. You just need to have a look around.
You can also get a sponsorship, or win contests from a company (if you really try.)
I've won two free servers, one which I'm honestly not even using and I could let you have it if you want. It's 3 GB with unlimited bandwidth (1 GBPS) and can hold around 70 players max.
If you want a reliable server, just buy a server unless you want to pay your electricity bill, pay 100s to 100s of dollars on a new computer, hardware, OS, etc. etc., and get better internet speed/router, which I doubt you have the money to do all of this. Server hosts are cheaper, come with all of this and you can view the control panel from anywhere.
In short, no, it's not possible to get a free 24/7 server (Unless someone is just too kind). Everything costs, but that doesn't mean you have to pay money for it. Whoever gives you a 'free' server will usually want something in return, such as advertisement. Most hosting companies (including us) are willing to sponsor people like you with a server, however, you've got to have a reason for a company to want to sponsor you.
I'd highly recommend you read this guide, it will help you alot: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1622208-enteis-guide-to-sponsorships-and-free-servers/

One day the Prey will become a better hunter than the Predator, and the Prey will rise and strike great fear in the Predator, and the Prey will rule above all.
You have two options.
1. Use your own computer. Free but will cost you in the long run, example;
-1. Your internet gets DDoS'ed and goes down for a few days.
-2. You need to pay for power bills and internet bills.
-3. You need a lot of internet data, speed and a decent computer. (Which if you don't have thats even more money)
-4. Your computer gets hacked and things get deleted/spammed/malware/viruses (Only a 000.1% chance of this happening though)
-5. You cant ask for help with various things like you can with a host
-6. If you don't live in the US a fair percentage of your players will probably lag.
2. Buy from a hosting company. (Cheep, really easy to use with control panels you can access anywhere)
-1. Most hosts have DDoS protection
-2. You don't have to pay for any power or any other bills
-3. Control Panels (Console etc) Can be accessed anywhere in the world
-4. Don't have to port-forward and worry about hackers etc.
-5. Server gets online in about 2 minutes
As you can see you may think its free to host from home but it will probably cost you in the long run
If your looking for a host, consider LionHost! (They host my servers)

-Cheep. (Literally cheeper then last nights dinner except for a month!)

Other hosts i have heard are good but haven't used them:
>NodeCraft: getnodecraft.net
>MaxsHosting: maxshosting.com
Edit:
Also a warning about freeminecrafthost.
Looks good on the outside until you look at the inside.
For example, lets say you were going to buy a server from LionHost. 1gb for $5.99/m
Now lets look at freeminecrafthost.
Buy 24/7 upgrade -$10/month
Buy 1gb upgrade -$15/month
Buy FTP access -$5/one time
Thats $25/month and with LionHost you could be buying the 4GB Package with that amount of money and you still get extras way more extras with LionHost

Specs of those containers please?
