My friend is wondering whether or not there is a solution to his server not be crashed for say... the whole night while he's asleep! He's looking for a script/plugin/configuration that makes it so that when the server crashes or goes down, the console automatically reboots the server.
We're having terrible problems with griefers DDoS'ing our server's IP, and we find our server down when the owner is asleep!
We would really like a solution to the problem, because having downtime on a 24/7 server is never good!
The server is running on Bukkit, and is hosted by BeastNode, too, but he doesn't have a run file.
Oh yeah, I expect some sort of BotNet doing it. We've been DDoS'd twice in 2 days (usually when we're offline so we cant manually restart), but an auto-restart tool of some sort would be brilliant.
We'll try contacting the hosters... hopefully they can enforce some protection :smile.gif:
There are a few things you could do, based on the fact that you're saying you're with a host it's unlikely that you're going to be able to do this, but if you can run a PHP script on the server, you could make a button that runs a shell call to restart the server if it's not running.
If you have shell access only then your options are limited somewhat. I would contact your host. If they are any good at all they will have a firewall solution which can block floods (or DDoS). A good example of this is a Cisco ASA for a smaller host.
