Oh yeah, I expect some sort of BotNet doing it. We've been DDoS'd twice in 2 days (usually when we're offline so we cant manually restart), but an auto-restart tool of some sort would be brilliant.
We'll try contacting the hosters... hopefully they can enforce some protection :smile.gif:
There are a few things you could do, based on the fact that you're saying you're with a host it's unlikely that you're going to be able to do this, but if you can run a PHP script on the server, you could make a button that runs a shell call to restart the server if it's not running.
If you have shell access only then your options are limited somewhat. I would contact your host. If they are any good at all they will have a firewall solution which can block floods (or DDoS). A good example of this is a Cisco ASA for a smaller host.
