it doesnt start the server. it just opens CMD and closes it
if you click on it and it is still just opening it and closing it really fast, then you need to go and click on the start orb and go to Computer and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\ and then click on the jre folder that has a bunch of numbers after that. Then go into the bin folder and copy the path.
Then you need to click on the start orb again and this time right click on Computer and click on properties. Then click on Advanced System Settings.
Then click on Environment Variables.
Then under System Variables, find Path and click Edit.
Then hit the "Home" button on your keyboard and paste the path that you copied before, before anything else in the path variable. BE SURE TO PUT IN A SEMICOLON ";" AFTER THE "N" IN BIN. For example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.0_22\bin;
And thats it, now it should work!
open note pad and copy/paste
next line for 1 gig
java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
next line for 2 gig
java -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
save and change extension from .txt to .bat
put in the same folder as your minecraft_server.jar file and double click on the .bat file, will start the server with that much ram.
Windows 7 and im using bukkit. thats the only mod i have. and also im getting a 503 error when i try and log into my server now
you should give more detail when you ask questions. I don't have much experience with bukkit, i run mostly vanilla servers.
maybe that someone on bukkit forums can help you or someone else who have experience with bukkit
@echo off
"%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
pause

Change the 1024 to 2048 if you want to allocate more RAM.
Also, when there is a 503 error, it's typically when minecraft.net is down.
64 and thank for telling me how to use for ram

That's odd. I was told to use this:
@ECHO OFF
SET BINDIR=%~dp0
CD /D "%BINDIR%"
"%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1G -jar craftbukkit-0.0.1-SNAPSHOT.jar
PAUSE
Should I change it? I'm running XP Pro on an i7 with 3GB of memory. I'd like to devote 2.5 GB to Minecraft.
