So, I was followed the tutorial skype made on how to set up a server and on the step where it says to go to tools>Windows Firewall Port Exceptions its shaded out, so I can't click on it. I tested to see if the port was open and it wasn't, why isn't it letting me open the port?
Sorry for double post, but the post is getting low and I'm afraid it will never get answered, when I test if the port is open it says "25565 is offline and can not be reached" And in the bottom of the Simple Port Forwarding it says "Ports to be opened (2)"
Shouldn't there only be one?
Here's a screenshot of the port forwarding program.
Notice that it says TCP and UDP, that's two ports.
Disable your firewall completely and check again. If it still says it's not open, check to see if your modem has a router built in. If it does, you will need to forward from there too.
The majority of modems from broadband ISP's include basic firewall capabilities within them. You can check the support website of whatever Internet Provider you have, they should have some sort of information on how to log in, as well as what the default username/password would be. Hopefully they made you create a username/password during the install.
open a CMD prompt if you're using Windows, and to a ipconfig .. one of the return lines should show the gateway IP.
Put that ip into a browser window, and it should prompt you for a username and password. Once you log in, there should be a section for port forwarding.
