so i want to make a creative server but i am not sure how i would go about doing this. if someone could help me or at least give me a useful link that would be awesome. i am running mac osx 10.5.8.
I know it isn't pleasant to see some responses not be what you're looking for, but the forums and such are all full of useful information. The only thing I can say is if you are planning on running the server through your home computer and have never dealt with port forwarding, I wouldn't bother with it.
The best thing you can do is look on youtube for videos or check for one of the other many forum posts for information on where to begin. If you have money to spend and want someone else to go through the dirty work of keeping the server online, there are minecraft hosting services out there ^^;.

$15: 1 GB RAM, Windows 2008, SolusVM with VNC. 14 Months+ Customer. ThrustVPS! I've tried Burst and HazeNET in the past and it was no comparison...

Don't bother with port forwarding if you aren't experienced with it. It can be a big hassle. Just download and install LogMeIn Hamachi and you can use that to create a virtual network. It's not only a great and easy way to host a MC server from your home computer, but it also is an easy way to whitelist (if you set a password, anyone has to put in the password to join the hamachi network to log into the server). It's not a foolproof way of blocking out someone who really knows what they are doing, but it's pretty darn effective, free, and easy to setup.
Well first you need to download the software. beyond that i do not know.
And welcome to the forums
If you don't know the answer please do not spam "I don't know." Then to have the audacity to say use Google when you couldn't even be bothered to read the question... wow... just... wow.
FYI: this is the number one result in Google when searching for "creative server" for this site and the number three result for "creative server minecraft". Everyone that searches for it will see your "answer" so you might want to delete it.
Nice reading skills. I'm pretty sure the author said CREATIVE server not CREATE a server.
I believe that the you can change your server to creative mode, by changing the game mode to 1. This can be done either via command in game or the server control-box monitor thingy-ma-jig, or by editing the value "gamemode" in your server properties file. Or then again, I might just be full of ********, spouting out facts that aren't even true... Oh well. Hope that this helps.

Don't try and fit yourself into pants that are too small -- limiting your potential will get you nowhere. Likewise, don't try and fit into pants that are too big -- you'll get fat.
