If the OP is still reading this thread, you ought to update your first post and change:
Go into your minecraft single player folder for me its
C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves (might be different)
and take the world folder that you want, right click - copy
to:
Go into your minecraft single player folder:
%appdata%\.minecraft\saves
and take the world folder that you want, right click - copy
That'll make it a bit easier because it works for people regardless of their profile's name and OS. Well, assuming PCs heh.
I followed the instructions and when I don't add my world into the folder and change the level name in the server properties files, the server works perfectly with the random generated world. When I change the server properties and add the world files into the server folder and then try to open it up to play, it says the server timed out or Old Server is out of date. Anyone have any ideas?
Open %appdata% then go to .minecraft then saves. Put the world folder from the server there and when you go into single player, it'll be an option. Don't drop the contents of the server world folder there, drop the folder so if it's "world" the saves folder should have a folder called "world" as copied from the server.

How do you do the opposite? I need to take the world from my server and copy it to single player
