It's presently disabled as it was half of the cause of a serious memory leak. When it's fixed, it should be re-implemented. Until then, you'll just have to get the WoM client.

When I unzip minecraft_server.
I don't get files like admin.txt etc.
I only get start server.bat and minecraft-server.jar
:ohmy.gif:
Same here, you can either create them or if you just run the server it will create them for you the first time it's run.
skip the "nohup" part of the command, then after it scrolls complaints about missing files, it will create them and start running, after which just Ctl+C to quit it and then "ls" and the files will be there to edit.
A first time use setup script to generate the files would be great for the server, I was expecting it after not seeing the files there...
Ah, I'm having problems with java now. I dont think my Java installed properly
if i type
java -version
I get that java isnt a command.
Help? :smile.gif:
I'm having an incredibly hard time getting mine going. The best I can get out of it is this:
root@server [/minecraft/one]# /jre1.6.0_21/bin/java -cp minecraft-server.jar com.mojang.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer
*** 13:26:15 Failed to start the server!
java.net.BindException: Address already in use

Any help at all? I really would liek to get this setup for me and my friends, but dont know a whole lot about server stuff. Thanks in advance.
Thanks. I threw in a different port, and it gave me the memory heap error. So, i tried to start it with defined memory size and limit and got this:
minecraft@server [~/minecraft]# java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
libgcj-java-placeholder.sh
This script is a placeholder for the /usr/bin/java
master link required by jpackage.org conventions. libgcj's
rmiregistry, rmic and jar tools are now slave symlinks to these
masters, and are managed by the alternatives(8) system.
This change was necessary because the rmiregistry, rmic and jar tools
installed by previous versions of libgcj conflicted with symlinks
installed by jpackage.org JVM packages.
This script was designed to be overridden by the supported RHEL3 JRE
packages, java-1.4.2-bea and java-1.4.2-ibm. It is installed as an
alternative symlink as /usr/bin/java. It will override a third-party
(non-RHEL3) JRE's java command if the JRE's bin directory is listed
after /usr/bin in PATH. In that case, it is recommended that the
third-party JRE's bin directory be listed first in PATH instead.
gij: unrecognized option -- `-Xmx1024M'
Try `gij --help' for more information.
After some internet research, i was able to come up with this instead, but it gave me a new problem:
minecraft@server [~/minecraft]# java -mx=512M -ms=512M -jar minecraft_server.jar nogui
libgcj-java-placeholder.sh

Segmentation fault (core dumped)
So I finally downloaded the java.bin file from one of the posts here, however when I sh java.bin, it just inflates stuff, and doesn't actually ever prompt me to "install" it, like many others here are indicating it does ... what's going on with that?
Hi,
I enter my Ip address on PuTTY, but after clicking open, it says "Connection Timed Out" all the time. I've tried changing the port, and still did not work. I even forwarded the default port 22. I hate it when I fail at the first step. Why is it not working?
P.S. Your tutorial can be a little more Detailed, by adding images or other things like that.
So everything appears to work until I actually try to connect. If I use the externalurl I get the free to play version, and when I try to connect with the ip it says "connection refused. Using centos and slicehost.
i finaly managed to get the server working but when i try to get hey0 working by starting the minecraft_mod.jar instead of the regular server one i get unable to access the file but it works fine with the minecraft_server.jar any idea on how to fix this?
