I am able to join my own server through my internal ip, but my friend cannot join through the external ip
My friend sees that screenshot
Server also says :
[18:40:45 INFO]: /(friendo ip) lost connection: Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: The received string length is longer than maximum allowed (18 > 16)

Did you port forward your server? If you did then you might need some extra. If you're running on Wi-Fi you need to do some extra port forwarding on Windows. Right click on Wi-Fi icon and open Network and Sharing Center. Click your Wi-Fi network and then from here Properties > Sharing > Select allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection > Settings > Add. From here add the rules exactly how you did them on your router. Except make the IP here "localhost" instead of putting actual IPv4 address.
I use ethernet, and there doesn't seem to be a way to do that
Edit: when my friend tries to connect it says this
[16:46:16 INFO]: /(friend's ip) lost connection: Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: The received string length is longer than maximum allowed (18 > 16)
