Okay, so for the longest time now I've been trying to host a Minecraft server for me and a couple friends to play on, and so I had a friend of mine help me test the connection. Every time she joins my server she lags so bad that it's unplayable. It's weird lag too, like everything is horribly delayed on her end and won't catch up. First she'll log in and complain that she is underground, to which she'll try to break some blocks to dig herself out. But on my end she is clearly visible above ground and just standing there punching the block in front of her. She also complains that the blocks keep reappearing and won't break, but I can see her breaking and picking them up in real time. The thing that bugs me is that I used to host and play servers with her all the time with little to no lag, and I don't understand where these issues came from all of a sudden. I've even tried older minecraft versions but the performance is just as horrible regardless of what version we're running it on.
When looking at the server logs, these are the errors I keep getting.
[19:53:07] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 17812ms behind, skipping 356 tick(s)
[19:53:10] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 3322ms behind, skipping 66 tick(s)
[19:53:59] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 24254ms behind, skipping 485 tick(s)
[19:54:02] [Server thread/WARN]: Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Running 3614ms behind, skipping 72 tick(s)
To me sounds most likely to be the processor or internet speeds. Especially the processor if your hosting on the same computer you're laying on and even more likely if it's a laptop or an old desktop. Find your CPU and total RAM by pressing the Windows Key + R and when the "Run" box comes up type "dxdiag" and press enter.
My apologies for the late reply. I was running the server with at least 4gb ram, I've got 8gb in total.
As for my internet speed, now that you mention it, My upload speed is garbage. So I'm starting to lean toward that. As when I really think about it, these issues didn't arise until after we changed our internet, and I didn't have these issues on my older, crappier pc. Ugh, annoying. I'll have to talk to our provider. Thanks a bunch you two!

Those errors mean exactly what they say: Your server (not necessarily your computer, just your Minecraft server) is overloaded.
How much ram is allocated?
How much ram do you have total?
What CPU do you have?
(Weird question, but could solve it) Is your system clock set correctly? Yes, the actual clock, on the bottom right of your monitor.
And it's just her that lags? You and everyone else are fine?
This is less likely to affect it, but...
What are both of your internet speeds? (www.speedtest.net)
