Hello everyone, I recently encountered a problem on my server regarding corrupt chunks, which caused my server to crash anytime anyone entered the chunk(s). I searched the web endlessly for ways on how to fix it and all I could find was outdated info such as use MCEdit's chunk fixer. (I downloaded MCEdit and that feature wasn't there anymore) I kept searching and after finding nothing decided to just mess around with the world file. (yes I know, probably a bad idea, just remember to make a copy first!) Then what I did after that obviously didn't work, was load the corrupt world on single player. After I did that 2 new files were created in the world folder named something like "corrupt chunks" or something in that field of words. And naturally, I deleted those folders. After deleting them it's been about 2 weeks and the server has not crashed once.
How To Do This^^:
First make 2 copies of your world, 1 that you plan to do this on, and 1 that's a backup in case this doesn't work. Once you have done that go to your .minecraft folder and into your "saves" folder on your computer. Put the corrupt world into the saves folder and minimize the folder. Then run minecraft, go into single player and log onto that world. If the world your loading is the correct corrupt world then after you log off and close minecraft there should be 1 or 2 new files created inside the world folder that you should then delete.
Remember to ALWAYS make a backup before messing with world folders.
Well, you could hace just regenerated the chunks using MCEdit. That usually fix it.
But if you don't want to do that, then, the only thing you have to do is to create a new world (with the same seed, if possible, to avoid biome problems), go to the folder of that new world, copy the "level.dat" file in there, and then paste that file in your corrupted world.
Sure, you can do everything you said, too, but... isn't this easier and faster?
How do you regenerate the chunks in MCEdit? I looked in 'Chunk Control' but the only similar thing I see is 'relight'; I'm trying that now but I don't know if it will work.
You delete them. Then when the world loads again, it'll make a new chunk there based on the world's seed, so as long as the seed hasn't changed it'll be exactly like it was before it was first loaded.

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
ive had corrupted chucks before mostly because of my home computer bluescreening while the server is running, it doesnt happen very often but when it does it drags down everything with it, minecraft is no execption and im glad someone has a fix for this, will give it a try. my server doesnt crash it just lags really bad for anyone near the corrupted chuck or as well call it: "the hole of laggy nothingness".
I also found a black area which I can't enter in my single player game. It's really annoying
Someone knows how to fix this?
edit:
Well fixed my problem
Just deleted the broken chunk with mcEdit. But when I entered the world after this, the deleted chunk was replaced by another biome. It was better then the broken chunk, but it didn't fit in the landscape... So tried some other things:
sollution that worked for me:
- Delete broken Chunk with mcEdit.
- Start minecraft in an older version (for me 1.6.4 did the job)
- Walk to the broken Chunk, and everthing seemed naturally and normal again
- Restart Minecraft in the newest version, and everything is back as before
hi, i have a world on superflat where i made a mountian and put a bunch of stuff inside the mountian and the chunk is right in the middle of the mountian. what do i do, none of the other options work????
