I posted an issue about a month ago with the 1.3.1 update not working and now that 1.3.2 is out I had our network admin make the update to the server with the new 1.3.2 minecraft_server.jar and then I updated the client and right away, when I logon and log in to the server I keep getting "Connection Lost - End of Stream". We absolutely cannot get this version of Minecraft to work on the server and we don't know how to fix it.
We're running updated Java and the last time I checked the server log it doesn't give any indication on what the error is. It just says connection lost after the IP address. No java error or any other error that comes up that would help us fix it.
Has ANYONE had this same issue and have any idea how to fix it? This is super frustrating and it shouldn't be that difficult but it seems it's going to be!
Double check that the server version is 1.3.2 (check the server startup log), connecting to a < 1.2.5 server with the newest Minecraft client produces the 'End of Stream' error.

Not putting in my name or IP address, however, I'm getting random port #'s on the end of the IP address each time I try to log in and it gives me the "End of Stream" error. Any thoughts?
Should work in either case. Backup your current files first in case it doesn't work however. But I'm not sure off hand of what the issue could be. I'll do some more digging and let you know if anything turns up.
Network admin did this, no dice. Someone also suggested deleting the player .dat files. Tried this too and no luck. Did a fresh install including removing the application data folder from my Mac and uninstalling the app and reinstalling it. Same error. My network admin just notified me that we're running Java 1.6 instead of 1.7. Would this be the issue? We're not getting any java error so I'm assuming that Java shouldn't be what's holding this back. Is it?
Well updating to 1.7 can't hurt, so I would go ahead and do that. Probably isn't the issue though. I'll do some more research and see if anything turns up. This isn't an error I've experience and debugged myself.
I only ever get an end of stream message when I have a bad connection to the server e.g. bad internet connection have you tryed loging in on the host computer?
our network admin is the only one with thise privileges. haven't thought of that. however, when i did try to log in and got the end of stream error, i tried loggin in a few more times then it would say connection lost when viewing the server list with a big red x over the server strength indicator. does this info help? I'll see if he can do an install on the server computer. btw, he told me that the port isn't forwarding. should it?
i dont know anything about port forwarding but a big red x on the signal indicator means you are not conected to the server at all so ether there is a problem with the internet at one end or you have the wrong ip or it could have something to do with port forwarding but i dont know anything about that.
We've once again downgraded back to 1.2.5 JUST so we can play again. Still can't find any solution to this. Is there a way to contact Mojang directly to ask them what it could be?
Yah...no dice again. We even tried the latest snapshot and it still keeps coming up with the same error. Anyone else have any bright ideas? Is there anyway to contact anyone from Mojang?
As far as #1 is concerned, on my Mac I noticed in my firewall settings that I'm allowing Minecraft, guessing that the server is working in that area as well. We've been running 1.2.5 on the server for a while now and we've done the following 2 things. Either A) simply replaced the newer Minecraft.jar with the 1.2.5 version, restarted the server, updated the client and got the error or simply wiped the entire folder clean on the server and started with a fresh install of the newer version, removed all hints of Minecraft on my Mac including all that's within the Application Support folder, added the newer client files and still got the error. So you can see where our frustration is!
Now, there IS a white-list.txt file on the server. I don't have access to server functions but I have access to view files on the server so I opened the document. It's blank. Should there be a list of usernames or IP addresses in there? Or should it be blank?
As far as #4 is concerned we've done that already with complete fresh new installs on both ends with no prevail. I also checked and the server is running Java 1.6.??...don't remember the extension...but I don't think it's a Java issue.
The part that's baffeling us is that 1.2.5 works all day long, no hiccups, no issues. We upgrade to the newer 1.3.2...error. It's not so much that we're frustrated that we can't play, because we just put 1.2.5 back, but we're frustrated because there isn't any error reporting, no indication of what could be causing this...permissions?, Java?, Firewall? We simply can't pinpoint the issue.
So for #5 you're suggesting moving the folder from the server to my Desktop on my Mac (running 10.8.2 BTW in case that mattered), add a new server in the 1.3.2 client and type localhost instead of an IP, and try that? Now I'm not familiar with the server.jar functions so do I dump the folder to my desktop and then just double click the server.jar to run it? Then run the client and try the localhost option?
So to sum this up, could you reply to me with 2 things: 1) The white-list.txt...what should go in here? and 2) the server dump option as I suggested in the paragraph above. If you can I would appreciate it! I'll contact my network admin and let him know what I'll be doing so he's not alarmed.

This solution works!
If you didn't set the server to offline mode that is the problem!!!
To set offline mode goto your server folder open up server.properties and set online mode to false
HOPE this works
Thanks for the message.
