So I have a private server running (On my own physical server). It is running Minecraft 1.7.10 Modded. The modpack is Space Astronomy, albeit with added mods onto it. It's not a big server, only like 6 people play on it not more. I can't determine the cause, but at some point the server starts lagging and get progressively worse & worse until I restart the server and cycles again.
Since it was getting worse even though nobody was online, my first assumptions was that it was something that was chunk loaded. So I tried looking around everything that was chunk loaded but couldn't find anything that can be the cause.
I checked entity number, it seemed like a normal number so definitely not entity. After that, I really don't know what else to check. It's to the point the TPS is less than 2 and the past hours of my logs looks like this (As you can see, getting progressively worse.): https://pastebin.com/9JbC8WBg
I have installed Opis to try to find the cause but it isn't helping me much as I do not really know how to use it at all.
Does anyone have any idea on how I could find the cause of this ?
I doubt it's the hardware of the server itself as it is made to handle heavy load specifically for servers. I had it running for way more demanding things than that without problems.
Would anyone know how to be able to find what is causing the TPS slowdown? I have access to the console, being able to install mods, op, and of course, seeing / modifying the files so that's not an issue. I've also installed Opis so maybe we could use that too. I'm really out of idea on how to find what is causing it so I'd need some help please. Thanks !
Nah it's not that, it's just that it was in the middle of the log. After all, it's just autosave. (And it doesn't show in the console for some reason, only in the log).
There doesn't seems to be any issue with other modpack. And it wasn't doing that at the beginning when we first started the server and for a few days. I suspect someone placed something or activated a thing and that thing is causing the lag, but I can't find t.
In your server.properties, check for max-tick-time
Set the value to 20000 or less - if a lag takes 20 seconds, watchdog will kill your server - in this case, watchdog maybe will give an info about the mod in the crash-report
With
Unloading dimension -150
the spam starts - take a look at your worldsave, and backup and delete the DIM-150 folder

The log does not contain any useful information
Writing/saving your world just causes issues
Is there the same issue with other modpacks?

Here's the complete log of the current: https://paste.ee/p/31Y62

There is no max-tick-time present in server.properties. Should I add it ?
If so, just to make sure I write correctly, the new line to be added would be:
Right ?
I will try deleting DIM-150 too.
Yes
Alright will do.
I just checked what was DIM -150 and it is the Underdark.
I've then checked if anybody actually even entered this dim even once and as far as I know, nobody even entered it.
Are there any changes if you remove this folder? Or this mod (Extra Utilities2)
Well, we'll see since it take some time before I start to see report that it's lagging.
What I can say is that even after deleting, the dim -150 folder appeared again after starting the server.
And I'll remove this mod after we try everything else because 3 out of 6 person on the server use this mod A LOT.
Yes - the mod generated a clean template/world
Remove this mod just for testing - backup your files before
So I put the max-tick-time at 15000 but now it says that it's lagging 200000ms behind and watch dog is not killing it.
But it's skipping 3k tick. But if the max-tick-time is in tick, then for now I have not seen it skip more than 7k at once.
Should I lower it the 3k just for the test ?
Just test it
Yup. Launched the server and now I'm just waiting for it to throw the lag line at me and for it to shutdown.
Max-tick-time doesn't seem to be working. I've set up at 1500, the server is skipping 3k+ ticks and yet watchdog is not killing it.
Is there something I'm missing ?
Does it kill only if someone join ?
Maybe it refers to an issue which is watchdog not detecting - I am not sure how it works exactly
You can make a test without FastCraft
I mean Fastcraft is just reporting. TPS is still descending.
I guess I'll try removing extra utilities.
Maybe Fastcraft is preventing any issues related to performance problems
Isn't that good ?
