I'm trying to run a Minecraft mod pack server but it doesn't appear online and I am unable to connect to it however it loads up fine in the command prompt. I want to run the server through my laptop and play the game through my PC.
The server is online from the PC but when trying to run it on the laptop it's offline.
When I run the server on my Desktop PC a normal cmd prompt opens alongside a java one.
When I run the server on my Laptop only a normal cmd prompt opens.
(see attached photos) Is this the problem?
Could it be a port forwarding issue?
I don't understand how it would be because I've run many servers through my desktop before and still can.
Perhaps my router is blocking my laptop?
When I try and connect to the server on Minecraft.
io.netty.channel.AbstractChannel$AnnotatedConnectException: Connection timed out: no further information
I've followed the forums guide addressing this connection issue but to no avail.
Some useful information:
- Java version 8 update 261
- Windows 64 bit machine
- Modpack Valhelsia 2 - 1.15.2
- PC uses ethernet, Laptop doesn't
- The laptop is the "Surface Pro 6"
- Asus RT-AC68U (router)
I've tried:
an inbound firewall rule using 25565 TCP and UDP
Allowing private and public access for java
trying Java version 8 update 231
trying Java version 8 update 251
trying Java version 8 update 261
Turning off the firewall then running the server
Starting the bat file through the java.exe path
Server start bat
java -jar -Xms4G -Xmx8G -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=100 -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -XX:G1NewSizePercent=50 -XX:G1MaxNewSizePercent=80 -XX:G1MixedGCLiveThresholdPercent=50 -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch forge-1.15.2-31.2.30.jar nogui
pause
Essentially the server works fine on the PC but doesn't on the laptop so I have a perfect benchmarking system to solve the problem. If anyone wants me to try something or sends more information feel free to ask.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
the 'nogui' at the end of your batch file prevents that window from opening. It doesn't really matter either way if it opens or not though.
Use Java 13-14 or newer for launching the server! (newer ones wont work and older ones are just old and outdated)
Leave a thanks if I helped you!
