Sorry if this is a newbie question. I run a server for elementary schools in our district. As we grew, I had to switch providers and notify everyone about the address change. I know providers offer nameserver support, but if I switch providers it would of course change. Is there a way I can get a permanent name registered, then if the ip changes, I can just alter where the name redirects to? I'm not knowledgeable about how that all works. So one name I could register (which I'm sure would cost something), but I can always alter the ip to point to a different provider and not have to notify everyone. Thanks for any info or clarification!

1. Log into your account
2. Click "Domains"
3. Find your domain and click "Launch"
4. Go to your DNS manager
5. Here is the tricky part. You can either use a subdomain or use the domain itself to connect to your server. For example you can use play.mcschooolserver.com, or you could use mcschoolserver.com to connect. If you would like to use a subdomain, make an A HOST record with the host name as play and then make it point to your server IP. If you would like to use the domain itself, make the host name @ and then make it point to your server IP.
If you ever change IP's again all you have to do is go back to your DNS manager and change what IP it points to.
Thanks for the replies. I tried noip, and set it to edu.servegame.com, but it doesn't work. I'm guessing because I can't set the port to 25565. Punching it into the web brings up my dyn map, but doesn't work in MC to direct connect to server. It just says 'unknown host'. I wouldn't mind paying the $20 a year if I have to, just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something with noip correctly first.
