I have created a really cool Minecraft bukkit server, but when my friend tried to log on he couldn't connect to the server. Is it because I'm running Linux Ubuntu, or is it that my friend's computer isn't compatible with my server? My guess would be that you actually have to pay to have people on different networks play. My computer is port forwarded, btw. Could anyone help?
If you are in fact referring to connecting over the internet into you server, you will need to set up port forwarding on you comcast or Uverse router. I did it with directions from U-tube.
Dont get frustrated....it will work...I now play with 4 real life friends and family members.
Edit: Actually reread your post, and you have port forwarding....I would consult the tube anyway, because it failed the first few times for me...
Well be sure that you have port forwarded correctly.

I dare you to move your cursor to the green box on the bottom left of these words, and give it a click. I would give you a diamond, but I've lost it.
Give my channel a view would you? http://www.youtube.com/user/xDelay3d
I really have no idea if I dis the port forwarding correctly, all I know is that I installed a pprogram from the website, and it said my port was forwarded.

You need to portforward your actual server. is a pretty good tutorial on doing so.
