Hey Minecraft Members,
I am trying to make a 24/7 minecraft server but i was unable.
I tried to use NO-ip but i don't really know how to use it. I am unable to buy 24/7 server as I had no money, or specific, no credit card.
I would like to know what can i do to make it 24/7 for free. I did use my IPv4 Address for it but my friend is unable to use it.
Pls do help me. Thanks.
Another prob : My friend is unable to join my server even when i am online, what can i do?
24/7 essentially means 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. so literally means forever on. like the person above, dont turn off your computer and your good. you have to portforward to allow people to connnect from other places. or computers. portforwarding can be complicated, but its easy once you do it. and if you want to do 24/7 i wouldn't recommend playing on a computer thats hosting the server. and last note, in order for your friends to connect, you need good internet, and wired if possible. a household connection usually is not enough (10 ~ 20 mbps), while a business use, 50 mbps above should be enough for a local area server.
The electricity isn't too expensive, and it it's just 3-5 people a fast home connection should be fine. Biggest issue here is you gave your friend your ipv4 which is your local ip address. That only works of your friend's comp is on the same network as you. Your friend needs your public ip to connect. Just search online what's my ip? And you'll find it.

Nope, that just starts/stops the server when people aren't on. You cannot magically make a server run without something hosting it. It's a thing called common sense, you may wish to read up on it some time.

a server is made 24/7 by not turning it off, thats all, just don't turn the computer off.
with regards to not being able to connect...have you port forwarded, is your firewall allowing java?
I want to add, if you dont know how to port forwward, then go to start then type cmd, then do ipconfig. Then go to your browser theb type in yiur default gateway. Then go to advanced setting or port forward or port trigger, theb enable the port 25565 for both start and end, and TCP/UPD both of em.
if you just left the server on wouldnt it just lag like crazy or time out?
Is there a plugin or code you can get to make the server reload itself when you arent on?
Port forwarding isn't really that complicated.
For Verison:
Type in the website bar: 192.168.1.1 Port forward your wireless router. Give your friend the IP of the wireless, but have your minecraft server's IP be 192.168.1.5 Yes, I know, it's 2 different IP's. But if you do this and give your friend the router IP (not 192.168.1.5), it should all work.

Just make sure it's on a dedicated VM or machine that is never turned off. Treat it like a server, not a workstation: ex: don't actively use it for stuff like surfing the net etc. Mine is running on my main home server, which is also UPS protected by 2 100AH deep cycle marine batteries. The batteries are not for minecraft specificly, but the whole server as a whole, and network gear. Good for about 5 hours. Going to be putting in 2 more batteries soon to double run time.

You can create restart scripts which restart your server on a pre-defined schedule.
