Hey guys, I'm the owner of the MCServers.org server list. I provide free player activity and uptime monitoring for your Minecraft servers. I am still very actively developing the site and adding new features constantly. My ultimate goal is a fast and clean site for players to find new servers and server admins to keep tabs on their server activity.
Last night I launched a brand new feature - server status images/banners. I'm really proud of how they turned out. Head to your server page (or submit your server if it isn't already on the site) and click the "Images" tab and you'll see a page like this: http://mcservers.org...n.minecarts.com
The images come in a variety of styles. Here's just one of them:
They are currently designed to fit perfectly into your MinecraftForum.net signature and look great! In the near future, I'll be adding more sizing options and styles. Let me know if you have a particular size/style in mind and I'll do my best to accommodate!
I'm pretty active here on the forums, so feel free to PM me with questions/comments or reply to this thread.
how about having all the servers listed in one page?, and you can filter out what server you want by check boxes?
Will make it a crap more neater and less annoying. Again just an idea, if you need inspiration look at battlelog they do it perfect.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not familiar with battlelog - do you have a link or screenshots?
You could customize it to only show the servers you are looking for, aka creative pvp survival etc.
if you can do this and make it work great I'm pretty sure your website will become popular.
I only suggested this as the current way you have it makes it kinda tough on the user to find the right server for them.

The issue with this currently is I have no way of doing "feature detection." Pinging is automated, anonymous, and doesn't require any plugins. There is a way to extract some additional information from servers (player names, plugins used), but it's an opt-in feature that I'm betting nearly all servers have disabled.
I do have plans to add something like this though for filtering by country, player slots, activity and uptime. In the future, when I can get more information about a server, I'll add more levels of filtering.
There's nothing to search by if I don't have those other dimensions of information. "Sort servers by" takes care of most of the types of data I have right now. Filtering will come when I can extract other data from servers.
Wait couldn't you just let the server owner do that manually when entering all the info?
That would require trusting the submitter, which may or may not be the server owner, to supply correct information and keep that information updated. I'd rather keep it as simple and hands-off as possible. As I said, I can sort of detect plugins for a small subset of servers, which I plan to do soon, but that's about the extent that I plan to go.
:/ hmm perhaps don't advertise uptime on signatures?
Had to shutdown my server, for like 2 weeks sitting at 72% up time just makes me look bad.
The uptime figure will normalize over time, assuming your server doesn't go offline for an extended period of time again. Two weeks on the internet is a lifetime and, as pcman2000 said, players want to know that they can play when they want to play.

I might suggest something.

I see what you did there.

Isn't that the point?
Players kinda assume that they can play on your server when they feel like it.
Also, I wait for it to say "Last Update: 1m Ago" before I restart my VPS if I need to do maintenance. :3
Exactly.
