Well, as of recently, we have found that our server is under attack from a grieving crew. We have the thread link and were wondering if we are able to report the thread to someone to get it removed? The reason we are under attack is because apparently one of our ex mods is a whiny little baby who can't get over the fact that he got a 24 hour ban for trying to advertise his server and refusing to assist players (after given the moderator position).. (which originally was just a demotion.. but then he advertised his server and even went as far as to ask us for our server file which is pretty ridiculous.)
So, anything we can do or do we just have to keep strict administration on watching these children?
Oh no, I know who they are. It's an ex-mod on revenge. He was pissed that I banned him and he got his rank removed and now I have his thread from his amateur grieving site encouraging those imbeciles into filling our server ad thread with hate spam and "this server sucks" posts etc.. It's alright though I got the server whitelisted and apparently he wants to try to work things out. We will see how that goes. I tried explaining to him calmly that it was only a 24 hour ban, but apparently 24 hours off our kick ass server is too much for him to handle
Personally, if they are going to do all that over just a 24-hour one, I'd seriously consider making it a perma-ban. No one needs someone in a position of power and responsibility over the server who would act like that.

Well the thing is he says if we let him back in he'll remove the thread.. I'd rather not have that kind of publicity you know? Letting back in one bad apple to prevent a swarm of them is a fair trade in my book. And don't worry we'll have hardcore staff watching him and hell no he doesn't get mod back lol.
This is absolutely insane. Perma ban him, IP ban him and his buddies, and be done with it.
Though honestly, I ask all mods for their physical address, and then make them confirm. If any of my mods screwed me like that, I'd be at their front door.

I read up on it and i think I like it.. just having a bit of trouble. Maybe you could help as I'm not sure how often the creator the the MCBans thread on bukkit checks his/her thread? This is what I posted there:
Having some trouble with registering my server? At the top of my server page I get this warning:
"This server is not active! ( If your server is active and has been for greater than 24 hours message an admin. )" and I guess I'll go try to contact an admin (again) after I post this, but I'm having trouble even finding an admin.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong with registering my server? I have the API number that the instructions say I need, but I'm having trouble registering anything after that? Help please!
Have you manage to configure the plugin at all, or register on the website and their gameserver?
I have MCBans and the config in my plugins folder but have yet to open either, or run the server with the plugin installed.
I went to mcbans.com and registered an account. I got the 8 character string, joined their server and type /verify <mystring> and it said that it was confirmed.
I proceeded to step 2.. "Server Registration" but when I clicked on the link they prompted me to go to "http://myserver.mcbans.com/registerserver I got a 404. But I went to mcbans.com and somehow got to server registration manually, and I guess I did it correctly because I got an API Key (which the bottom of step two says is what I was trying to get in the first place).. Now I have the API and no idea what to do with it.
Everytime I go to myserver.mcbans.com I get the error that my server hasn't been up for 24 hours
No, but I'm not going to tell you what is wrong here. I will say that there is something in the config file which is there to make sure that people actually configure it. Read the whole file, you'll understand

Aww ;( please help! I'm an idiot I know lol.
Is this it?

# MCBans Default Config
# Please REMOVE this section after you have finished configuring MCBans

mcbansUnconfigured: true
And if so then why does their craftbukkit page say:
Ways to setup your server:
Default - no changes to any configuration files. This means you do not need to change a thing in the myserver.mcbans.com dashboard.
Okay I went through the config file and altered it to my liking. I restarted my server and I guess it's working? When two of my players joined it warned me that they had been banned before from other servers (But I'm assuming their rep wasn't high enough to get auto-booted for it?) It says in the console that mcbans started up with no problem, and it's warning me when players have been banned before.. but it didnt boot them.. does this mean that if they join with a rep higher then 3 the plugin will ban them automatically?
And if I ban the player, does that give them a rep on McBans or something? Because if it does I'd feel awful (lol). Does this mean my plugin is working? And if so, how come when I go to my server on mcbans.com does it still say the server is inactive?
I haven't used it either, but yes. The end of the config file is it ^_^As for inactivity, is your server 24/7?
On reputation points, it will kick them, not ban them. And if you ban using that plugin, it will affect their reputation based on your server's own reputation.
So, anything we can do or do we just have to keep strict administration on watching these children?

Alternatively, you can just ban 'em all.
But chances are they have thousands of alts

What's that?
A global banning system, with built-in login throttling and advanced filtering mechanisms.
Some people hate it, others love it.
