I think you will need a static IP or hamachi. Unless all of you are in the same house. Then you should all be able to connect with the IPv4. If you aren't, I don't think there is a way. :sad.gif: Sorry.
If a dynamic IP is an issue, you could use something simple like DynDNS which would create a hostname domain that should redirect to your server easily. Though, you have to manually update the IP in their settings when yours changes, so it knows where to redirect to when yours is reset. I'm not sure, but I think they have a small program you can install and run on your server that would automatically change those settings for you any time the external IP is changed which saves having to do it manually.
Any downtime would presumably be related to server maintenance, restarts or crashes though. Assuming his IP changes when this happens as is the case with some ISPs, running DynDNS would be a lot easier than sharing a new IP with friends each time, if he doesn't want to use Hamachi or a VPN of any type.
I checked, and they do in fact support update clients for Windows, Linux, and OSX that would automatically start, check for any changes in IP, and make the correct changes very quickly. You can grab these here, OP.
I've used this over the years for FTPs and other small servers, and it does a good job. I assume it would work fine for redirecting to a Minecraft server as well, though I've never tried myself.
- no hamachi
- It is not a stacic ip address
If there is a thread that explains this point it out to me thanks. :smile.gif:
