A quick general question;
When using bukkit + SQlite with MineOS, does the sqlite.jar still go in with the craftbukkit.jar in /usr/games/minecraft/ram-worlds/?
Edit: For anyone else having SQLite issues, it needs to go with the server.properties file in your /ram-worlds/one folder, not with the craftbukkit.jar file in /ram-worlds/
Looking at the WorldEdit setup instructions for Bukkit (http://wiki.sk89q.com/wiki/WorldEdit/In ... ion/Bukkit), I don't see how I did anything wrong. Maybe my server isn't actually running Bukkit somehow?
Help much appreciated!
Xeodus,
It sounds like the file "usebukkit" is not in the world directory.
Check Ekhart's post several above yours re his similar issue resolved with the "touch bukkit" command.

Just what is SQLite used for?
I've not needed it and haven't missed iot, but am aware it may be needed for some plugins.
Was it something included with the new v1.28.11 iso?
And, please post the uservars URLs for craftbukkit and c10t.
My c10t URL is out of date and I can't find the right one to use.
For craftbukkit, I'm curious the possible results of using the iso's URL versus the one I have.

SQLite is required for iConomy, which acts as a framework for other plugins and provides money and the means to transfer it between players. SQLite is the conduit through which iConomy, and other plugins, can create databases to store information.
I just updated my craftbukkit URL to http://ci.bukkit.org/job/dev-CraftBukki ... APSHOT.jar
It always points to the most recent recommended build, which is currently #493. The one that 1.28.11 updates to by default is #420.
I installed it to my v1.28 MineOS and confirmed at least the simplest one works, Compass.
Here's it's download page. Be sure to use the bukkit link, not the big button at the top middle. http://llama.cerberusstudios.net/runecraft/
[edit] - I just realized this wouldn't work for commands like "list". I guess the correct fix would be to pass 2 arguments and let the world_command parse it out (if the command length is > 1)

How would I go about using these methods on my already-setup ubuntu box? I've toyed with ramdisks before, but could never create what I'd call a "stable" solution, and I'd never even heard of a difference backup before.
I'd just like to say thanks for an awesome tutorial and setup system. It works flawlessly. However, now that it is up an running, when I give someone the IP address attached to the virtual machine, they cannot connect. Any reason why? I have no problem connecting via the same address from my home computer.
Using your Port checker It deems all four ports closed. However, I followed (and left at default) all the setups throughout the setup. I am assuming the setup also opens the needed ports?

The safest, quickest, and easiest is probably for you to use VirtualBox.
It's what I used to try MineOS before committing it to boot on an old computer destined to be my server.
From within Ubuntu see if Ubuntu Software Center has VirtualBox for download...I think I got mine there.
Follow the minecraft.codeemo.com home page's video tutorial...which begins with setting up VirtualBox.

I have no plans to actually install mineOS, I wish to setup similar backup and ramdisk configurations -on- my ubuntu install.

If you can connect on your home network, the problem's not likely on the MineOS virtual machine. If you have a router, did you update its port forwarding rules to send 25565 to the virtual machine?

I can connect on both machines in my home network and when I use PFPortChecker is says 25565 is open but it is unable to ping the router. Does this make a difference?
I really like what you have done here, just a few questions.
1. Does this work with duel cpu servers? If not can you make a version that does? Basically I have 2 servers each with 2 single core 2.6ghz intel xenon processors. Each processor has 2 gigs of ram.
Then the second thing is, does the web control panel allow me to manage multiple server?
Also does the built-in mapping have multiworld support?
Thanks so much,

Ah.
There I cannot help you except to suggest you generally research setting up a ram-disk for any purpose.
There have been various forum threads on setting up ram-disks for MC to improve file management speed before v1.3.
I suspect sussing out how to set up a differential backup system outside of MineOS is deeply technical and far beyond what we usually chatter about in this forum thread. That subject would probably be a daughter thread to setting up a ram-disk.
The charm of MineOS for me is that it takes care of all those ram-disk details in the background as well as removing potential concerns about ram-disk through its easy backup system...a differential file backup system being a refinement whose benefits I am sure are significantly pertinent to ram-disk concerns, but I'm too nooby to express why or how, though the minecraft.codeemo.com site has a technical note on this.
Hi im planning on moving my MineOS install to an actual server in my house instead of running it off the virtual box which it currently is. When I move it Im going to be doing a ram disk setup but what i want to know how to do is use an sd card as a swap file i have 1 gig of ram in the computer and a 2gb class 6 sd card Ive looked around but everything ive seen is to do this from linux. So id like to know if I can do this during my mineos install? And also how to do it.
THANK YOU!
After awhile of inactivity the CLI display on the server blanks out, I assume as some form of screen standby or power saving. How can I change this behavior so that I can always view the CLI without having to tab a button on the keyboard (which is impossible because I have only networking, power and display hooked up)?

I have the same thing.
If I must see the server's screen I have to hit any key on an attached keyboard. But it is very rare I'd need such except if I needed to see local screen messages at boot, poweroff, or reboot...like when the server froze on me the other day.
Otherwise, I do everything remotely with putty...which doesn't show me everything I'd see on the server's screen.
Would remote putty interaction do enough for you?
ah, sweet lordie! how can one operate with 40 forum threads, 40 emails/day (which is like 160 accumulated after the last 4 days!), and life! aaugh!
I want to thank ALL YOU GUYS who are throwing out help here to the new admins to MineOS. If it depended on me strictly for support, I'd have already died from exhaustion.
hey hexparrot thanks again! awesome distro!so far I've got my server setup exactly like I want it! (after downgrading from 2.23.11 that is :tongue.gif:) I was running a vbox off my maincomptuer for the longest time but I finally ported it over to a headless rig I have running next to my router man it runs nice with out any overhead! Ive got ramdisk running and I even have a class 8 4gig sdhc card as my swap drive :smile.gif: although that was a pain because the mineos partition utility on install only allows you to edit one drive. so I had boot into gparted and do it there this things runs amazing Hexparrot you should make a video showing side by side differences with the /warp command of ramdisk versus regular you can tell the difference visually by far (hard drive makes you spawn into emptiness while you see chunks trying to catch up, and ram-disk spawns you onto a chunk and quickly loads surrounding ones in under a second). Well this is awesome man I'm going to continue lending assistance on the forums and is there a donate button somewhere!??!?
I'm experiencing the same problems as Jewlord. Due to IP conflicts, my server shuts itself down every 2-4 days, leaving me with a random chunk-filled world. And I don't know how to set up regular backups, so I do them manually through WinSCP everyday.

I think the most recent c10t link is for 1.6 at;
http://toolchain.eu/minecraft/c10t/rele ... x86.tar.gz
But even after changing the uservars link to it my map button doesn't work.

If the static link could updated using the Update button of MineOS (via the uservars file?), life would be just about perfect.

And Ekhart, I hope you can suss out SQLite. I believe implementing it was one of the reasons behind v2 MineOS.
The code in admin_console.py is passing 2 arguments (the world, then the rest of the command-line arguments as one string)
but admin.py is expecting 3 arguments (the world, the command, and then the arguments)
The simplest fix would be to change the admin_console.py to pass 3 parameters (the world, the command, and any remaining arguments):
