I tried the external URL and my IP URL and neither worked. Whenever I use the external it says the server must be down. Whenever I try my IP URL it brings me to singleplayer. I forwarded the port using portforward. Please help.
I just figured out the problem for me at least. It seems the map was either too large or something like that. I put a new map in the server folder and everything seems to be working correctly.
Download a map (there's a forum section where you can find several), do not unpack it. It will either be in .dat format or .tar.gz, either way, copy the whole thing to your minecraft server folder, rename it to server_level.dat
Go to "Start>Computer" Click the top bar where it says "computer" and type "%appdata%". Go to ".minecraft>saves" right click on the world you want to put in the server, click copy, go to your desktop and right click then click paste. Go to the file with all of your stuff for your server, drag the world file into there and edit the server properties. For the "world name" type whatever the name of your world you want is. TA-DA, your done! message me if you need anything else.
