Please don't reply if you aren't going to give a forward answer or if you don't know what your talking about..
My info/specs:
I am doing everything that I've always done for Minecraft server hosting.
This is a vanilla server. so there are no mods of any kind.
The server is running the standard Minecraft_server.1.7.9 download from Minecraft.net.
My computer specs aren't important in this case, but I have more than 8 gb RAM for the server and 6 cores, as well as very fast internet.
I have everything port forwarded correctly, and a suddomain "dynamic dns" for the server's address from https://freedns.afraid.org/
My server is started via a custom batch file I wrote myself, its:
java -Xms8192M -Xmx8192M -jar minecraft_server.1.7.9.exe
Now my problem:
Everytime a new player logs into my server, my server creates the player.dat file for them
However instead of using their name for example C:\Users\Iybron\minecraftserver\world\playerdata\ybron.dat
it creates one like this: C:\Users\Iybron\minecraft server\world\playerdata\f93dc6f5-af0f-4f46-9db6-3d01b8df37c9.dat
I at first thought this may be caused by the server trying to run in IPV6 rather than IPV4... because the players names look like those of an IPV6 address.
However I wrote a new Batch startup:
java -Xms8192M -Xmx8192M -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -jar minecraft_server.1.7.9.exe
PAUSE
So that I could start the server in an IPV4 format. but then when I had a buddy who hasn't connected to the server before, connect for the first time, it still created a funky name for him 4443a3a2-dd5f-445d-b7ba-0fae0e2a1ef9.dat
Anyways, this has been a frustrating issue because I cannot see the players names that are joining my server unless I go into logs, and look up their name according to their "IPV6 name" if in fact thats what it is.
Heres an example of my logs, the ip address and ip are changed for protection of player on my server:
[05:13:13] [User Authenticator #24/INFO]: UUID of player Ybron1 is 7f28e1d1-77e9-47bb-8d03-297267d8fdcb
[05:13:13] [Server thread/INFO]: Ybron1[/2.120.218.25:49841] logged in with entity id 1359513 at (-214.81389211612705, 66.0, 182.2866622516587)
[05:13:13] [Server thread/INFO]: Ybron1 joined the game
Now when I go to my playerdata folder, the name apears: 7f28e1d1-77e9-47bb-8d03-297267d8fdcb.dat
I have't had this issue before, but I just started hosting again for the first time in 6months.
my goal out of this is can someone tell me how to configure it so that my players .dat files upon being created show their name?
also, not sure if anything is supposed to go here... but my C:\Users\Ybron\Desktop\minecraft server\world\players folder is empty, and nothing has ever been created there, not sure what this folder is for if my player.dat files are in playerdata
thanks for reading and your feedback!

This really screws over server admins, if there is not a way to tell them apart. I currently have a player with a corrupt player.dat, are we supposed to just tell all players on the server, sorry you will now lose all your stuff. Since I can't tell which is which. There has to be someway to tell them apart...

You can get the players UUID very easily, there are many ways to do it but one way is using fishbans API. Simply type http://api.fishbans.com/uuid/ into your URL bar and then add the player name to the end. For example, http://api.fishbans.com/uuid/TehKitti will show my UUID. Once you have that you can then search for that UUID's .dat file using a search function.

My player.dat files are not UUIDs but something different. According to mcuuid.net and some other sites the names of the level.dat files are no valid UUIDs

Thank you! I use BungeeCord, that means I have to put the servers in offline mode. I've never thought about that
EDIT: How can I see my nickname UUID?

I know all of those websites, but they don't work (they do work, but they show premium UUIDs). I'll give the plugin a try!
