Well, to be exact, i'm not really "Dropping Out". This is what's really happening...
Mods installed: Optifine and Rei's Minimap
So, I join the server, that's the first step. I'm having fun, playing the game. Now, after an arbitrary amount of time, I notice that I get randomly damaged, or my partner on Skype tells me that i'm not moving, or something else happens. Now, it used to happen a little bit, and it was annoying a bit. Now, it's happening all the time! From normal servers to TF2 servers to Ghostcraft to MineZ, nothing is safe from the dropout.
Now, is it my internet? Is it my terrible computer? Is it the mods? It's not the people count, I dropped out on a server that literally had 5 people on it... It's getting annoying, so can anyone give me a possible fix?
I do not necessarily understand what is going on with you. Do other players see you standing still while you are still moving?
Please specify so I, or we, can help you sort this out.
Usual troubleshooting: Update Java, and Reinstall minecraft.
If the problem persists, I'd be curious to see how much memory you have utilized in your computer. Open task manager, and go to performance the next time you have this issue and make note of how much memory is being used.

I'm running around as normal on my client. No noticeable anything happening on the server, not even lag. My friends just see me as standing still.

It was off a fresh install, literally the first thing I did after updating and adding the mods.
Also, I have 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, planning on building a new one with 4GB. On average, I get about 1GB free RAM after I start MC.
MC (or rather Java) has a tendency to eat up RAM due to minor memory leaks that add up. It wouldn't surprise me if your RAM got full a some point during game play. Worth noting that the RAM usage is MUCH higher in game, where as it is much lower when you just 'sign in' to minecraft.

Did this just start after the recent update?
It did become worse, but I can kinda see what you mean. I can play for about 15 minutes without dropping from a fresh boot, and relogging fixes the problem somewhat. It's annoying on servers like the TF2 Minecraft servers.

I made sure they didn't (It had /pl available. If it didn't, I wouldn't play on it. Reguardless, I even tried disabling it)
