Recently I have been bit by the Mincraft bug again, so i downloaded Technic Launcher and downloaded a few modpacks.
(because of Technic, I am not even sure if this is the right place to post this... but here it goes...)
Vanilla Minecraft works fine. I can punch dirt, build a wood shovel, dig dirt....
But for some reasons in the mods, I can still punch dirt (that way i know I am not in Adventure mode) but if I build a wood shovel, I cannot dig dirt. If I build a wood axe, I cannot chop a tree. I cannot even try to make something out of stone, since if i build a wood pickaxe, I cannot mine stone.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? I tried googling the problem and I find that it is because they are in adventuring mode and cannot break any blocks.... but for some reason, I can still punch them like normal. And again, vanilla MC is working fine.

Any thoughts or ideas?
some modpacks don't allow you to use vanilla tools, in order to be more realistic.
and this indeed belongs to modded client support
Oops.
I did not even know there was a modded client forum. My apologies.
So how do you find out what tools are needed, and how to make them?
depends on what modpacks with wich mods you run. if tinkers construct is included, this is a pretty good start. http://tinkers-construct.wikia.com/wiki/Getting_Started
if you are running something like technofirmacraft, it will be significantly more difficult to get tools anytime soon.
