Well, I've kinda solved my lag problem myself by a) installing OptiFine (everybody's been suggesting that ), and b ) turning off animations (nobody suggested that )
So, 1.9 has officially been released, I am lagging badly (even the main menu lags). I seriously need help! Any theories/ideas?
OptiFine 1.9, lowering render distance, Vsync, VBO's don't help. Please do not tell me to get a new computer.
Operating system: Windows 10, allocated RAM: 3GB.
Somebody has submitted a bug report with similar problems as mine (https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-97736?jql=text ~ "1.9 lag"), however, 1.9.2 is even worse. I would appreciated if someone could come up with a solution or notify Mojang.
Previous versions like 1.8.9 and 15w38a work fine.
I should mention that the lag is strongest when chunks are loading.

Seriously, why would the main menu lag? That's like my biggest question or something.

Um, it says I'm allowed to bump every 12 hours, right?

I'm using OptiFine 1.9, render distance 2, no more than 64 entities at a time, VBO's and Vsync are on, 3GB allocated RAM, and still doesn't work.

12 hours later... bump

If no one helps, I will report directly to Mojang with their contact form.
None of the other help resources have done any good.

No visible effects on 16w15a. I thought it said "lag fix"?

What do you guys think would cause the menus to lag so much anyways? It's like, the least memory-intense process.
