I posted this on the Technic pack forums probably two years ago and have had very little response and certainly nothing that has come close to fixing this.
Before this was called Tekkit Classic and was simply known as Tekkit I had absolutely no problem running it which is the main thing that is confusing me.
I am completely incapable of running Tekkit Classic even on near minimal quality settings (render distance, texture quality, smooth lighting set to off etc). This occurs even on a completely brand new world, when loaded there is a significant amount of lag and then I can see the following on the F3 overlay. (See attached screen shot)
I have allocated 4Gb of RAM to the launcher in this instance but in others I have allocated different amounts and had no different result.
If anyone can offer any help that would be greatly appreciated, part of me thinks I should just give up and accept that I won't be playing Tekkit again.
I am using the Default Java 1.8.0_25 64 bit. I have allocated 2GB to it before and as I said in the OP there is no difference, but your point is still valid.
Yeah I mean I'm guessing that something has changed in becoming Tekkit Classic because otherwise it would be working fine as it used to before. Not just that I used to be able to run it on very generous settings with a high resolution texture pack!
Of course in true fashion when you think something is going well it doesn't, have managed to found a very acceptable work around, (or so I thought) playing Feed The Beast Retro Pack which contains most of the mods I wanted to use from Tekkit Classic, but of course now I am having a problem with that as well.
When I launch FTB Retro a small window opens which then fits to the size of the screen (it does not enter full screen just a screen sized window.
A few seconds later the window goes back to being small before once again making itself screen sized, this is when the Mojang logo appears, but only in the bottom left hand corner in a size equivalent to the smaller window, when the Minecraft starting screen loads all I can see is the bottom left hand corner of it as shown by the screenshot.
Unfortunately whilst trying to see if I could fix it by roughly guessing at the options within Minecraft which I was able to see some of, I made the GUI really small and now can't see anything of any use.
I have posted this on the FTB forums as well so hopefully I'll be able to get some help on this now, either that or give up on modded Minecraft altogether!
Hi all,

Anybody?
What version of java are you running? Also, don't give tekkit classic more than 2 gb of RAM, it doesn't need it.
Also, I don't remember optifine being in tekkit. Did you add it? If so, try it without optifine.
I am using the Default Java 1.8.0_25 64 bit. I have allocated 2GB to it before and as I said in the OP there is no difference, but your point is still valid.
Tekkit Classic contains Optifine.

A) What is your graphics card/integrated graphics chip
B ) Have you tried loading a different world? Is it just that world?
C) What CPU do you have?
D) What type of processor do you have (32bit/x86, x86_64/64bit, AMD64/64bit)

Check out my game, Adventuria!
Dev of (IMO the best server ever) TwilightGamez!
A) ATI Radeon HD 4850 (I believe that is 512MB, not a lot I know but has been fine for running every other mod pack I've tried)
b ) It is every world, I have made a new world several times and the result is always the same.
C) What do you mean by what CPU do I have?
D) 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
Okay so I've answered both questions?
I have a Mac, so how do I do that?
Okay I tried the first command line and got this response from Terminal (the programme you enter commands into)
WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.
Guess this is just a safety thing but presume i am safe to go ahead with it.
Hang on, I think I made a mistake. Do you want me to change to 64 bit or just check if I am running 32 or 64?
Okay well surprisingly, the response came back as x86_64
Looked at the Wikipedia page and this OS is only made on a 64 bit platform, well that would have been much quicker...

Yeah, that certainly would be time consuming and a step into the unknown for me but I guess it's going to be my only option.
