I am trying to install minecraft forge in a named .minecraft folder (ex: .minecraftmodded). whenever i try to select the folder it says 'The Directory is Missing a launcher Profile. Please run the minecraft launcher first" but i already have. I logged in and everything.
I have the same problem. Just because I don't have minecraft profile (I've tried to create it many times, but never can log in somehow) I downloaded cracked launcher version. Whenever I try to install forge, it says the same thing that you wrote (btw, my folder is .minecraft, not named). This problem is solved now, I just updated the version to 1.6.2_forge on the launcher, but there is one more thing.
I have the other computer and when I try the same procedure it doesn't work, when I click ''Play'' nothing happens. It works just fine with normal minecraft 1.6.2 (without forge), but when I install it (if I manage to) it doesn't work.
Can anyone please help me? I would be very grateful.
I don't know what is the problem:
I have working minecraft with forge and one mod installed, but when I send all the files including the launcher to the other computer, minecraft doesn't work. When I click play nothing happens. Getting crazy of this...
you go to your .minecraft and change all the files with the name "launchers" to "launcher". Then you can install forge. Once installed , open minecraft and delete the "launcher" files as the minecraft would have created new ones.then its done!
I have the solution to the problem step 1 step download java devemos two http://www.sendspace.com/file/dcsb5o downloaded this file and open the folder, then open the launcher and they will open and make your profile and hope to play operate them luck.
Hate to *BUMP* those old topics but I just had to say something about this. There is no way you even have Minecraft if you don't have a .minecraft folder. The only way that's possible is if you have Minecraft Windows 10 Edition or Pocket Edition. If you're not using either and you ARE using the PC edition then open file explorer and in that little bar that should say something like "star/Quick Access", delete everything in that box and type "%appdata%/.minecraft" and right there is the .minecraft folder *Magic*
Uhm. I found that the easiest way to fix this error message was to simply copy the 'launcher_profiles' file from the .minecraft folder and put it in the newly named folder. Worked with no issue for me.
