you did it wrong, or applied the wrong version mods
Minecraft isn't windows? It's java.
Yes I know class files are Java...just tried to shorten my post. I have installed mods every since Minecraft had mods so I so I dont think I did anything wrong. Its always an aux.class error nothing else.
Never had this problem until the latest version of Minecraft.
I cant be the only one with this problem or maybe I am. Anyways thanks for your help.

Take a look at this and see if using this procedure while copying into the minecraft.jar (is that what you are doing?) helps.
Apparently aux or aux.class is some kind of magic file name in windows.
Once you get the file into the jar, you can rename it back to aux.class as this video shows.
It didnt work even though I followed the video. Everytime I dragged the aux.class file into Minecraft jar. Windows changed it to aux_class_ and there was no way I could rename it. I tried renaming it through properties and when I did Windows error message said the device name was invalid.
Thank you so much for trying to help me. I think I will just keep the old Minecraft until some others complain of the same issue. Maybe then it will get fixed.
Same here... I have tried a number of mod loaders and have only found one Mod loader that makes ANY change to minecraft and it requires a file that does not exist because it is an invalid file in windows > aux.class (Windows will not allow this name) When I start Minecraft, The standard window is now replaced with a mod loader. But I now also recieve the following error message: Could not set up game files
(java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\Users\CrocSkinner\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin\temp\aux.class (The system cannot find the file specified) at modmanager.ModLoader.loadbase(ModLoader.java:80))
Note that the file location for "aux.class" specified is NOT a compressed file or folder location, it does not go in the minecraft.jar. If you click to start minecraft, it will never start.

I took your pancakes. And I ate them. You may now commence crying.
I have had this issue, and the solution is pretty simple.
1. To add to minecraft.jar, you unzip it with an archiver of your choice, as per usual, and then rename aux.class to aux1.classduring the archive process, because it won't add aux.class to the unzipped folder if you don't.
2. You should now have the folder that unzipping minecraft.jar would usually yield, but with aux1.class instead of aux.class.
3. Add the mods you want to the folder, and repackage it back into a single file. (Make sure you select all the files within the folder rather than the folder itself, because, if you select the folder, it will create an archive with the folder with the files within, rather than an archive of all the files themselves) For this, it's best to zip it into a .zip file, but a .rar file may well work too. SEE NOTE.
4. After repackaging it, open, but don't unzip, it with your archiver, and rename aux1.class back to aux.class.
5. Finally, close the archiver, rename the archive you just opened to minecraft.jar, dismiss any warnings about file extentions and the like, and you're good to go!
Don't go crazy on me if this doesn't work for you, but it worked for me. I was running Windows (I have a new computer now) 7 (I forget which service pack, if any), Minecraft 1.4.7 and used WinRAR as my archiver of choice. I'm not sure if other archivers give you the opportunity to rename problem files, but WinRAR does, and it's free.
Note: If you're installing a mod that has its own version of aux.class, don't bother renaming aux.class, just tell your archiver to skip it and then let the mod files add it again for you.
Hope this helped, because I was sure relieved when it worked for me!
Problem only started when i updated Minecraft.
Aux.class is an illegal call for Windows. Why would Minecraft use it?
Is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?
I have also deleted minecrafts entire folder and reinstalled several times. Didnt work either.
Running Windows 7.
