The latest 1.1 update has made the game close to unplayable for me.
Simply loading my world can take a whole 5 minutes, and in game, travelling through Nether portals often randomly triggers similar wait times, during which the game appears frozen.
Going back to the title screen when I die has the same effect, or even sometimes completely crashes the game.
Similarly, re-launching the game after I go back to the Windows desktop during two sessions has become impossible, and I have to reboot the entire machine in order for it to work again.
There is another issue where if I walk for more than a few hundreds blocks outside in the overworld, entire neighboring chunks fail to load for 1 or 2 full minutes - leaving a void where ground should be, through which strangely all the caves in the vicinity become visible.
But the most annoying bug is the overall lagginess. The game stalls to a halt every 10 seconds, dropping many frames at a time. It also becomes extremely choppy whenever I'm around non-static blocks such as lava or nether portals.
Choppiness also unfortunately occurs during combat. I just got killed twice in a row trying to retrieve my equipment in a woodland mansion simply because my screen froze when I encountered enemy mobs just long enough for them to rip me to pieces.
This is on an Intel Core i3 4160 with a main 256GB SSD where the game is installed, equipped with 24GB of RAM and a 4GB Radeon Rx 470.
I am having this same problem. I never had lag and game ran fine until updated. My kids can be on their kindle fires and I'm on my PC theirs is running just fine. My problems are I'll open a chest and it take a good minute to two minutes to open, breaking blocks it take the same amount of time to break but on my kids is shows it broke, if something is said in chat they hear it right away and me 1 to 2 min. later. and all of the same issues as you. There are 5 people on our realm (brand new realm) and nobody else has the same problems as me. I've been all over the internet trying to find an answer thank you so much for posting this at least I know I'm not the only one. So sorry I didn't have an answer for you.
Glad to see (not really) that I'm not the only one having major issues with 1.1.0. I seem to run ok within my base of operations (underground of the red mansion), but as soon as I go out one map grid in any direction (started exploring and mapping the area), I get major lag and sometimes I get stuck out in the wilderness with nothing but "the void" around me while I can still see some enemies in the void and/or see underground caves and nothing else.
I've tried reducing all the video/graphics stuff down to bare bones, but nothing helps. Also, my file size has skyrocketed from around 120MB (next to my vanilla Red Mansion saved world file, no realms) to a whopping 492MB, and it seems to keep going up (maybe because I've now explored 8 maps worth of land, even through all the lag/void waiting).
I have been running flawlessly before this latest update, on a Windows 10 HP laptop (Intel i3-6100U, 2.30GHz, 8 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system/processor). I have a touchscreen, but I use an XBOX360 wired controller.
Read on another forum to "create a new world", go in and move around for a second, then come back out and go back to your main world. I tried this, and it seems to have improved/minimized lag and void fill for the time being (still get a little bit, but not nearly as bad). Either that or it was based on locale, as I was 1 map grid below my home base (directly under, 1 to the left and under, 1 to the right and under) when I was having the bad lag/void, now I'm 1 grid above and running a lot better.
EDIT:
Well that "fix" lasted through the 1 map quadrant north of my base (or was it just random and had no affect). As soon as I went up 1 and over 1 to map that section, the void/lag came back with a vengeance.
I've even tried putting Norton Security into "Silent" mode, no help.
Well, I have been back at my main base mining diamonds and staying around the base due to major lag everywhere else. Turn on today, to find myself literally naked in the woods. No items, no armor, no nothing. Surprisingly, the lag is minimal now (only 1 time I had the void scenario again), but I'm 100% lost as to where they spawned me.
I've gotten all iron armor on now, finally got some iron weapons, a bow and some arrows, and finally collected enough sugar canes (just now dug down to get some redstone) so I can have a couple maps, but I don't yet recognize anything, and I can't find my markers I normally placed at the corners of each territory I've explored.
Given this, I guess the "fix" they put out got rid of the lag and all my stuff. I'm hoping that if and when I ever find my way back to redstone mansion and my base of operations that all my stuff will still be secured and/or the stuff I was carrying will be in a pile somewhere.
It's official, everything apparently is gone (will do some mining tomorrow to see if I can find my network of strip mining but I doubt it's there). After a couple of hours of re-mapping the area, I finally found a large sea where after seeing the dark clay land mass that went to large water, that went to a couple small islands, I immediately recognized on the map as a place where I found an underwater monument / temple that I had been frequently a lot in recent days. Sure enough, the temple was there, but to my MAJOR disdain, all the work I did to wall it off, build a mini-base there and salvage about 40% of it was 100% erased (it was as if I found it a new).
Given this, I knew exactly my way back to my home base (at the redstone mansion basement). Sure enough, I recognized the trip back (made it multiple times, and totally knew where I had placed totems in the past, which were no longer there), and made sure to map my "home map" area and it was all the same walk/run back home, up until I get back to where the redstone mansion should have been.
Surprisingly, all that walking I did to find a starting point, led me right back to where I magically spawned without any of my stuff. I know because I had died there once (being butt naked of course) and left a floating boat with all my supplies around it (I was getting on a boat to escape an skeleton with a bow).
Needless to say, it is apparently all gone, which means all the hours of hard work to get obsidian/diamonds/sea lanterns/farms for animals/major base I built are all gone (to the best of my knowledge, all of my gameplay has been "legit" as I don't like cheating and haven't used the allowed "cheat" button in the menu). Guess I got my money's worth, though I doubt I will continue to play since it's not worth having a sandbox to play in if I can't keep the stuff I find or build (wasn't mad about losing stuff that I had on me when I died while exploring, but essentially wiping my entire existence is a bit extreme). Also, since everything is wiped, why is my file size still like 520MB?
EDIT:
I've reconfirmed that I am in the right location of where my Redstone Mansion and mega base used to be. I went straight up to where my nearest village was (my initial ventures outside of the mansion were to make a straight-line railway to that village). The village was exactly where I thought it would be. Back tracked with my map to the exact area I knew the mansion to be, it's literally just a lake now (recognize the overall area topography as well now). Dug down in various locales to see if I could find my mega base I had in the mansion basement, or any of my diamond mining tunnels, only found a MASSIVE mine dungeon that I know was not there previously. I'm very doubtful I will ever get my other game with all my resources/builds back. Don't know why they didn't allow us to be able to have more than one save point, in case something gets corrupted like this (assuming it's corrupt, as I'm noticing some of my menu options, especially multiplayer, have changed since this issue arose).
The only plus side is that all the lag is gone and I rarely get voids now, too bad I no longer want to play
I have posted similar issues..both here and on Reddit.
I will I'll add to this that more than two different maps I HAVE begun to see stutter hatter exploring more into a map.
Reducing chunk render distance, removed Java version of minecraft, updated graphics drivers, updated java (knowing win10 version doesn't use Java), cleared all cache files, reinstalled minecraft win10, verified it is running in 'game mode'
stutter still experienced at times, when alone it's occurring after extensive exploration and world is still less than 50MB
mentioned in my other post, previously ran a java based server - 1GB + map size and I didn't have any of these stutter issues. Even when hosting several remote connections..
************************
when playing alone I've had no issues. Running at full render distance. Not until extensive exploration.
when playing with even only one client on the same home network we experience both lag spikes and disconnects (most often if I switch to another screen in windows)
switched to realms server trial.. and immediately notice the cap on render chunks distance (32 I think) which is a huge downer to impose over XBLive servers.
Also being disconnected within 5 seconds of being alt-tabbed to another window every time (more more consultant than when I'm hosting)
so choose between extremely poor connections if we host our own vs very limited world view on realms..
anyone have have additional details about this?
Were this problems introduced due to a recent update?
are render caps going to be increased in the future?
Have the realms server disconnects always been a thing?
this is all on minecraft windows 10 edition the most recent update...
by comparison, I've hosted modded Java 1.8 server with 4 simultaneous remote connections with better performance by far.. switching to win10 isn't meeting those standards even though it's being pushed out forbthe purpose of cross platform multiplayer.. you would think the multiplayer should be a focus right now...
anyone have details / answers or feedback to support these concerns?
cheers
Same issue. Windows 10 nVidia GTX 1080 Ti / Core i7-6700 / 64Gb RAM.
Minecraft Windows 10 Edition. Everything worked great for a few weeks on a single local world. Super high framerate. Played through nether, end, killed ender dragon, explored outer end, all with no problems.
Got a woodland explorer map and found a woodland mansion that was VERY far away. Took about 5 in-game days and nights of travel (mostly in one direction by boat) to reach. about 90% of the way there the game started to stutter. I explored the mansion then went back to my origin (again by boat/walking). At this point the game is pretty much unplayable due to heavy stuttering every 10-15 seconds. Framerate drops to 1 FPS (and lower) every several seconds.
I believe this is due to exploring too far out -- too many blocks have been generated and the engine is somehow still cycling through terrain that is far beyond view distance.
