Error still occurring in Minecraft 1.6.5! I have deleted .dat folder, but that didn't do sh1t. I have read every suggestion, done every fix posted, and still i get d/c.
I have:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Intel Core i5 2500k
NVIDIA GTX 460
5400 RPM Hard Drive Intel PRO/1000 GT Network Adapter(This card lets me set the Transmit buffers up to 2048, which still doesn't fix it)
Yah I have the same error. As stated above it usually only happens once I actually try to do something in the server (just about anything) though sometimes even went I just run arround it does the same thing. Tried lots of the fixes that seem to be working for people here but so far I've had no luck... this has actually happened every time I've tried a server, even my first time several months ago. I kinda gave up after that and then I figured hey I should try again...but evidently its still not fixed/my computer still has serious issues...oh well...
Fixed it, what I did was move my world somewhere safe, wipe out my server directory, and redownloaded the minecraft-server.jar and started clean. No more crashes. (i also deleted character files and level.dat but it was still crashing after that)
I run on linux
I get this error on any server other than my own, and I just ran my own to test this problem.
I have tried a bunch of the stuff posted and I cant access http://getsatisfaction.com/mojang to see what was posed there. I didnt have this issue during 1.5. I really want to play on other servers. :sad.gif:

Exactly, playing on 1.5 seemed to work great. With 1.6 came multiplayer crashes for me, and I definitely don't like it :sad.gif:
another player with the problem, bumping in hopes of gaining any kind of attenton from mojang
also, is it possible for this error to be solely for the player and not the server. until today most of these errors would be caused by some bug/lag with the server i play on, and I'd find some other players who were disconnected, but today i'm getting consistent errors less than a minute into logging into any server. With the small amount of time I have before getting disconnected, I've tried asking if anyone else had the same problem and no one says they have.
I am haveing the same problem, although I have never been on this server. It is my friends and when I went to play on it for the first time I got the connection reset message, it happens on other serves as well which I have never been on.
i used to have the poblme but it dose not happen any more :/ idk how to help you but i just truble shoot it if that dont work i have to reset my computer so dont play online for a wile that fixed it for me and dont play on laggy servers thus are the main poblem just have fun thu :dry.gif:
Okay. So today I started having this problem for the first time since playing smp about a week ago. I had noticed that I got more 'lag' than other players, but i thought it was just my machine. Then, this morning as I was trying to log on it gave me an "end of stream" screen. SO. I shut down my computer, let it cool off for a while, and tried again. This time, I was able to play for about five minutes before getting "internal exception:java.net.sockettimeoutexception: Read Timed Out." Then, I looked up answers on google, found this thread (which has WAY TOO MANY views to have not been addressed by a coder yet) and tried the fix about turning the thing up to 512. (took me a while to find it on vista.)
Now, it is working, BUT it's beginning to do the same things it did before it booted me with the socket exception. My machine is not powerful, by any means. But it was running fine before, and should (conceivably) be able to run fine now.
I'm running a Windows Vista 32bit with Atheros, which seems to be the main network card associated with this problem (I don't know a lot about them. I'm a chick with a life outside pc's)
If anybody has found an answer that works and can be explained to a 22 year old chick who knows nothing but bbc code, please let me know.

I think I might have found a solution to those who are having problems with this whole code error. I was getting that issue as well and was very tired of it and because I have realtek ethernet adapter I could not increase my buffer size past 64. But then a few days ago I was trying to find a driver to install a printer and downloaded Device Doctor and it told me that my ethernet card driver was outdated and needed an update as well. After I downloaded it and restarted my comp it is now giving me hardly any problems and I'm on a laptop on vacation with average wifi. I still get laggy with skype video calling at same time as minecraft but that is just the usual ram not able to handle them too well. Otherwise I hope others read this and are able to help me confirm this theory I have. It very well could be some weird event that happened for just my situation but still praying that I have discovered the random fix for everyones Issue.

Hey guys,
My brothers were having a similar issue. Just to save me from typing a lot please see my post here:
