Is there any way to transfer a whole singleplayer/lan save with inventory to a private multiplayer server with the same map loaded ?
i've been trying all night yesterday it just doesn't work, seems like the playerdata is just being overwritten everytime i launch the server or something
it brings me back to my original spawn point with no inventory or sometimes with a random inventory i don't even remember having in the past, can anyone help me ? why is this so hard ? xd
If "SinglePlayer" it can be done. I don't know whether it can be on a server.
It can be done using NBTExplorer.
1. CLOSE Minecraft (not exit the game; turn it off).
2. Open NBTExplorer
3. Open a world where you have the inventory you want to copy.
4. Open "level dat"
4.5. Open "Data"
5. Open "Player"
5a. Find and highlight "Inventory"
5b. At the top of the page, find "Edit", select "Copy".
6. If not already open, do the above 5 steps for the world you want to paste your inventory. It is possible on my machine to have 2 NBTExplorers running at the same time, I do that.
7. If not already opened, open the world where you want to paste your inventory.
7a. Select "Player",
7b. Delete the existing "inventory".
7c, At the top of the page, find "Edit", make CERTAIN "Player" is still selected and select "Paste".
7d. SAVE the change and exit NBTExplorer.
8. Open Minecraft and the world you made the change to, and it should have the new inventory.
Thanks for the detailed answer but it doesn't work i did it twice, i had the playerdata folder opened up when i tried this and it created a new player data file, instead of loading the right file, my gf has her inventory and xp and everything but not me, i don't understand why
also i only put inventory in the title but it's more the general data of the player that i want, i want the xp, the position etc
I did miss a step, between 4. Open "level dat" and 5. Open "Player"; should be 4.5 Open "Data" (added).
I can't help myself; I'm a retired USAF E7 (MSgt). My instructions to subordinates had to be complete and exact. Any miscommunication might have resulted in a crashed aircraft with a possible loss of life.
I was active for 20 years, 2 months, and 27 days. No crashes during that time.

Just dump all your stuff in a chest before transferring worlds.
This. Remember that it must not be an enderchest, or you'll have the same problems
i've seen this reply a lot but i can't do that for reasons that i'm too lazy to explain

actually i got it working, it was because of the online mod set on false in server properties, it created a second playerdata for my account..
